So i read a few reviews of the BMF Link having issues of some sort, that didn't really make sense to me, and i am not sure if they are earlier model issues?
Apparently these issues are not the case with the regular version??
Sorry i know that is really vague! :blushing:

So basically those with the normal one not the LINK how much of a pain is it having to wait to be at a computer to link it all up??

Those with the LINK have you had any issues with them?

The only issue I had was that is was a little quirky to get it to set up to the bluetooth for my phone. So if I want to check my stats I have to turn on Bluetooth (I leave it off due the drain on my cell's battery....my phone sucks!!!) and then press the sync button on the BMF Link and then hit the BMF app on my phone. It works every time that way.

    I love it!!!!

I have not had any issues with my bodymedia fit link (except some little notice when I plug in that says there was a problem with an update...I'll have to look into that but it's not causing any trouble) As far as pairing with my phone and everything it's been working just fine! My husband even borrowed it for a day and paired up with his phone and I had no trouble pairing back to mine. And I love being able to check throughout the day no matter where I am. It's also helpful when I'm camping and can't get near a desktop computer at all for several days.

I think I read somewhere that most of the trouble I've heard of has been with android phones, but I'm not sure about that.

    Hey guys!
Im utterly confused about all this. I'm planning on eating at TDEE for about 6 weeks but alot of that depends on my body's response to eating at TDEE. I did a metabolism reset back around Christmas and it was pretty much a disaster in inconsistency.

I love the way I feel eating at TDEE and my workouts are definitely thanking me!

However, I'm questioning my true TDEE after reading all this info on bodyfits, bodybuggs, fitbits, oh my...seems like I keep thinking I need one, then someone talks sense into me, and I come down off the ledge.

I understand all of these devices really are just giving us an estimation. And they are ALOT of money that would be better used, IMO, on things like more weights. :P
I do have a HRM and I don't even use it. If I do buy a bodyfit, I just plan on using it for a couple weeks to get a better idea of my true TDEE and then use that. I really dont want to have to use my HRM and the body fit. Is there a way around this or is the body fit only accurate with a HRM?
Most of my workouts are strength training, so not sure this would be accurate. I've also read that HRMs are really not all that accurate, either, so IDK...

    What are your thoughts?

No matter how you do it, it's going to be slightly inaccurate. The BMF has been touted as the MOST accurate up to this point for all day measuring that includes your workouts (some inconsistencies if you bike/spin class but then you can put it on your leg to improve that). No device accurately measures lifting from what I've been able to ascertain. (if anyone knows of one, let me know!) HRM's are the best for Cardio workouts (chest strap version) but not good for an overall daily calorie burn. The BMF overall is good for everything and I've found that my tdee's are VERY close to the scooby calculators basic formula. (some find they burn a little less, others a little more)

Bottom line is this...don't spend money on something you don't necessarily want, or need. The scooby calc will get you close enough and in this game, consistency is the biggest key anyways. Many of us got the devices because it just eased our minds that we were right about our activity level....not that we necessarily doubted the calculators.

However, I do HIGHLY recommend that you get a chest-strap HRM at the very least in order to calculate your exercise burns accurately to ensure you don't wind up under BMR. This is also a good way to show you if your activity level is too low because if you consistently net below BMR, then you need to raise your tdee. Other than that, the other devices are awesome, but not a necessity.

I'm a teacher of grade 2 students so I'm not sure what I would tell them. I don't mind other adults asking but I'm not sure I feel comfortable explaining it to my students who will then go home and share my business with their parents. Hmmm a lot to think about.

As a teacher, I wear mine no issues. I explained it to my students as it allows me to work to be even healthier and that's that. Who cares what the parents think? Most kids think their teachers sleep in their classrooms too, don't they? :)

I'd be interested to hear from more owners of these products. I like numbers, and although I may not *need* one of these, I believe it would be extremely motivating for me.

Plus, I got a birthday coming in 6 weeks
