It's horrifying how quickly this year is going!

My starting weight at the beginning of this challenge was 184lbs, goal to lose 30lbs would put me at 154lbs, I'm currently 167.9, so about 14lbs still to lose, need to lose 2lbs a week to get there.
    I can only try!

We're just coming into summer here in New Zealand so the warmer weather is certainly motivating. So too is the prospect of wearing less clothing, and all the Christmas functions coming up, EEK!

Bit of a NSV for me though, yesterday was quite warm so I was pulling out my summer clothes from last year, must have tried on about 20 items of clothing, and it's all too big and looks awful! Bummer because I hate shopping for clothes but yay!

I started this challenge weighing 217.8 and needing to lose 32.8 pounds to meet my goal of 185. So far, I've lost 20.8 pounds and have 12 pounds to go. I'm psyched. I think I can do it.

What helps to motivate everyone? Trying on clothes in the next size down at stores motivates me sometimes or gives me encouragement if I am able to fit into the next size down. it doesn't mean that I am going to buy those clothes. :) What's starting to help me is that I have joined a gym. Before I was only doing boot camp twice a week and Zumba twice a week, and the C25K program. I ran my first official 5K this past Sunday. It was great. For me, I get bored within a couple months and I need to change up how I am exercising and what I am eating. Right now, I am on a homemade soup kick. Having access to the gym also means I can go in there and not feel obligated to exercise for an hour or more unless I want to and it's super close to my house. I've realized I have more motivation knowing that it's a short drive and when it's warmer, a long walk.

Should we set up exercise or food goals weekly? Would that help?

Great NSV.. maybe trying clothes and shopping will be more fun now that you are a smaller size? I'm trying to mostly buy from the thrift store since I am only about half way to my ultimate goal.

Meh, not really, it's my littlies that make the clothes shopping hard! I have been buying mostly thrift store stuff because I can't try things on, that way if it doesn't fit it I can just donate it back, no major financial loss. Think I may need to get the sewing machine out instead.
What motivates me? Positive feedback, in real life and on here; results; determination to not be the token chubby friend anymore; feeling better, more energetic; my four daughters who I'm very aware watch me closely; but vanity and competitiveness mostly, =P.

I so understand that fact! I have five kids and when they were younger trying on clothes was next to impossible. One son would always wander off and hide in the rack and never reply when I called his name and my youngest would run to the other end of the store. Shopping was NEVER enjoyable. Good luck... all those other things you mentioned motivated me, as well. I am impressed that you can sew your own clothes. I've tried with very limited success.

I have five as well, four daughters and one son. It's my 2yo and 4yo at the moment who are horrible, as you said, wandering off, hiding, not coming back when I call!
I'm self-taught sewer (lack of finances as a teenager!), so I have no idea if I'm doing things right, I usually just alter or remake stuff though, far easier! Finding the time however....
