Swim with a partner or alone?

When you go swimming do you rather swim laps with a buddy or by your self? I wouldn't mind to swim with a buddy at times but I couldn't do it all the time.

I always go swimming by myself. I can focus on my training and nobody distracts me.
If I go swimming with a friend, it's always a kind of relax, not a real training0 -
Nobody I know can keep up with me
Not that I'm that good, because I'm really not. I do go with my sister but she does about half the number of laps I do. Would like to train with someone on the same level though

I very much prefer swimming on my own. I get a much better workout. Actually, I could say that for any kind of workout--running, biking, weight training--I always push harder on my own.0

on my own for sure//0

I really like training with a masters swim team and my lane mates. I don't swim nearly as hard a pace alone the coach tells us what to do intervals rest sets... I think for me then i just show up and get a good work out.0

I do both. I love being pushed by other swimmers and I'm competitive so I swim a couple times a week with my US Masters Swimming Club. I also love swimming workouts of my own and working on my technique.0

One of the reasons I swim less often than I would like is that I don't have a training partner - after years of being on teams and having coaches, I have a hard time getting myself motivated to go to the pool by myself. It's not an excuse if I admit it, right?0

I swim laps alone. I push myself by the clock and I go to myswimplan and generate a workout. I prefer alone as I do not have interest in competing. I also like the quiet.
I do aquacize though and that is with a group.0 -
Alone, I don't have the breath to talk to anybody when I'm swimming and it's kind of hard to hold a conversation when you're doing front crawl  Besides, I'm there to swim, not socialise :glasses:0

True! That too! Alone and quiet and no socializing.0 -
ALONE... I cannot be able to concentrate well if I'd be with somebody.
The same goes whenever I'm working out at the gym. Basically I consider working out as my "Me time"0 -
In the pool there are some other guys. But I wish I had a girlfriend or a female partner to swim with0

I have two women that off and on swim with me. When we do swim together, we will share a lane, but typically go at our own pace and then do a cool down and hot tub together. Having partners keeps me getting out of bed at 5:15 am to get to the pool! I'm on a university campus, so morning is the prime time when there are fewer people around.0

I usually like to swim alone. The exception is when a friend and I have the same goal/swim style/lap times. This makes training go quickly when I have someone to push me. I get my best times when I get to be competitive.0

I take my son Charlie, since I homeschool. He kind of floras around, but is very non intrusive. He's a good buddy to have in the pool.0
