I'd say Taso's squat was good, just on parallel it seems to me. And yep, need to pause the bench but unless you've got someone to call it for you that's not really possible.0

First squat attempt: 525 lbs

Weigh in: 351 lbs

Everyone is posting squats in the 300s.
KiltFu steps up and posts a 525 pound double. holy ****0 -

300 lbs when you weight 150 is more impressive to me than 525 at 350. Double your bodyweight vs. 1.5x - to match, I'd have to lift 700, and that's a LONG ways away, if I even get that far.0 -
it doesnt really convert like that in reality though once you get that high imo.
a 500lb squat is strong. regardless of bodyweight.0 -

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Wilks formula and things like that - still a newbie at this whole powerlifting thing.
But that's okay - I've still got the bench to do, and that's where I shine.... like mud.0 -

Don't hate on your lifts man.
Once you hit certain numbers, no one (other than haters) is going to give two ****s about Wilks.
A 600 pound raw squat is impressive rather you're 165 , 242, or a 308.
525 for a double is pretty damn strong either way you look at it.0 -
525 @ 351.5 = 130.6 WILKS
475 @ 190 = 140.8 WILKS
300 @ 150 = 104.3 WILKS
If you're doubling 525, the 1RM should be damn impressive.0 -
I just want to say thanks for your support - as I said before, I've just started lifting (and working with others who actually know how to lift properly) a few months ago, so I'm still fuzzy of how I stood on the average. If it's not obvious, I'm not a "ripped" kind of guy - my six-pack is more of a wine barrel - so I feel like the fat kid on the side of the field most of the time.
With your comments, I'm actually getting more inspired to try entering a local competition - once I get a total over 1300, I'll give it a go.0 -

Don't wait to compete. It's a great experience no matter what your total is and you will be able to apply what you learn to better your training.0 -
Lets plan another one of these for the month of January!0

We can be a little more organized next time around. Timing for me was a little odd on this round as I had a vacation this month, plus I'm training for meet on Dec 1st, so I'm not doing any more 1RM attempts until the day of the meet.0 -

I should be good for a January "meet"
And first time BB benching last night in ages so might even get a semi decent number haha. Benched 90kg (200ish) at 80kg BW. That was easy but didn't want to push it too far with the shoulder just yet.0 -

I can go with that - didn't get a chance to video tape my bench, so I'll leave my lifts at the two ones I have videos of. January should be a good time to knock off the holiday dust!
Deadlift: 500 (didn't video the 525 pull, so I won't claim it here)
Squat: 525
Bench (non-videoed): 2500 -
Ok so Rules:
1. You have the entire month of January to complete your 3 lifts (we should throw the OHP in for obvious reasons)
-- a. If you do the OHP as well you are bad *kitten*
2. You can do as many attempts as you'd like
3. You must video the lift for it to count (time stamp please)
-- a. Show us your warm ups if you want
-- b. Super awesome lifting music is encouraged (possible meta competition there)
4. Weight yourself at the beginning of the month and end and post the medium of the two.
5. Gear that is allowed: Belts, Sleeves, Wraps (wrists and knee), Chalk, Ammonia Caps, Any shoe.
-- a. If someone wants to compete multi-ply they can.
-- b. No straps allowed
6. Lifts must be performed to standard powerlifting standards
a. Pause your bench, just show us it has come to a stop, no touch and go
-- b. You can receive a lift off but spotter must not touch the bar during lift
-- c. Squat BELOW parallel
-- d. No hitching the Deadlift
-- e. OHP must be strict
-- f. OHP must end with feet near each other and elbows locked
7. Brownie points for highest total, Winner decided by __________ (wilks coef?)
-- a. If we get a good turn out and the winner lives in Cali they get free 10cc of their choice (;
Am I missing anything?0 -
I think the January meet needs a new thread0

Here are my lifts from Dec 1st meet, just for the heck of it.

Go figure, I couldn't make the 225 bench press at the meet0 -

Deadlifts looked nice and smooth - and 400+ lbs? NICE.0
