Sleep Eating

Everyone has heard of sleep walking well I eat in my sleep and I mean eat. I have been " caught" by my family so many times that it is routine to find me in the fridge in the middle of the night. I have no idea how much or what I eat I just look for evidence in the morning like this morning I found a half eating piece of pizza. I try to leave some extra calories to compensate but I am afraid it is what is stalling my weight loss. I have tried blocking the fridge blocking my path out of the bed ( night stand etc). I am at a loss for what to do.

Are you taking any prescription sedatives? I had this happen with ambien--woke up to the sound of the cat licking from the bowl of oatmeal (apparently made with protein and all weighed out, scale was out, microwave was wide open, oats and protein on the counter too) that was sitting on my chest when I passed out. I have no recollection of making the food or eating it, either.
You could always go to the length to lock the fridge/cupboards before you go to bed and give the keys to someone in your family if it's not an ambien type event. It's drastic, but it's hard to control a behavior that's occurring when you're unconscious so I think drastic measures may be necessary.0 -
I often wake up in the middle of the night and am hungry (or at least my brain thinks I am hungry....)
In order to control this, I have started to add a protein bar to the end of my day/diary. I usually open it and have one bite prior to going to bed and leave it on my bedside table in case I wake up in the middle of the night with the "need" to eat something. Sometimes I wake up several times and have a bite each time, sometimes I wake up in the morning and it's still there, and there have been times I have woken up and found it in the bed with me - it is so freaking wierd!!
I am so glad to know I am not the only one!
Being obsessed with food is not a pretty thing! :-/ At least I have found this way of dealing with it that seems to work for me...0
