An Early Good Morning Everyone!
I got up early this morning...3AM Mountain Time. I have so much to do today! First it was addressing the Christmas card envelopes, making out my daily menus for the week and getting them logged into mfp, making the groc. list, paying a few bills, now writing the new topic for here, then do my work-out, and then start my usual day at my usual time....probably be 8:30AM by then. It will be (is) a good day!
Thank you cannibaldoll, amy-kee and spacecurly for posting your requests for weekly food and exercising challenges. I really appreciate your input!
For the rest of this week...no excuse for not doing some kind of exercise! Most of us have TV's and do our share of wactching our favorite programs. Here is a way you can squeeze in some exercise! Be a commercial Crunch Queen (or King) by seeing how many double crunches (lie flat on the floor, leggs at a 45 degree angle, lift shoulders to a crunch and butt off the same time) you can do during commercials or if you are brav
do them during the length of the show itself! Then Thursday, weigh-in day, post how you did! And...if you don't watch TV or if you fast forward during the commercials (as my husband does)....do the crunches after your regular workout. That is what I will do.
Food Challenge the rest of the week: 1 whole egg a day....unless, you have heart disease. Please read the following:
1. Eggs
Egg yolks are home to tons of essential but hard-to-get nutrients, including choline, which is linked to lower rates of breast cancer (one yolk supplies 25% of your daily need) and antioxidants that may help prevent macular degeneration and cataracts. Though many of us have shunned whole eggs because of their link to heart disease risk, there’s actually substantial evidence that for most of us, eggs are not harmful but healthy. People with heart disease should limit egg yolks to two a week, but the rest of us can have one whole egg daily; research shows it won’t raise your risk of heart attack or stroke. Make omelets with one whole egg and two whites, and watch cholesterol at other meals. Prevention Magazine
Tip: When making any kind of dish with gravy throw in some ground carrots, broccoli, green leafy veggies or veggies of your choice. The amount of veggies should not be too much such that it over powers the taste of gravy.
You are an Artist
"...each of us is an artist....creating an authentic life. With every choice, ervery day, you are creating a unique work of art. Something that only you can do. Something beautiful.... The reason you were born was to leave your indelible mark on your personal world. This is your anthenticity."
"Today, acept that you are creating a work of art by making big and little choices between playing it safe and risking. Is there something you'd like to do that's new and different? Why not order an espresso at lunch, if you've never tried one? Visit the perfume counter and try on new scents? Stick a small bottle of balsamic vinegar in the shopping cart to drizzle over melon? Switch the dial on the radio station and listen to country and western instead of classical as you drive home?"
Each time you experience the new, you become receptive to inspiration. Each time you try something different, you let the Universe know you are listening. Trust your instincts. Believe your yearnings are blessings. Respect your creative urges. If you are willing to step out in faith and take a leap in the dark, you will discover that your choices are as authentic as you are. What is more, you will discover that your life is all it was meant to be: a joyous sonnet of thanksgiving." Sarah Ban Breathnach

eggs and crunches!
I can so do this! Why? Because I am!
So love the confidents these posts give me everyday.
Sometimes stating the obvious is what matters the most!
Really, who needs to be as good as someone else in doing whatever?
For the people around as we just need to be the best person, we can be!
Would it be nice to run a sprint like Mr. Bolt, Swim gold medallion style like phelps, be rich as rockefeller or be amazing like elvis presley, madonna or whoever?
Sure, that would be a lot of fun... for a while. But even more amazing is being us, live and sometimes struggle through our lives and at the end of our day know we did the best we could!
Thanks for another boost to get me through the day0 -
I like these challenges! They'll definitely motivate me to get moving and more closely watch my eating. And I agree with spacecurly: the encouragement in these posts is really welcome, especially given how easy it is to start feeling down or frustrated!0

Well I got my egg in today and can probably eat one for a few days in a row, but I don' think I could do it any longer. Eggs just aren't my thing. Oatmeal, on the other hand, is something I can (and do) eat every morning. I like the idea of a weekly exercise and/or food challenge. It will give me something to focus on in addition to your inspirational sayings.
I guess my brain is tired on this Monday because I read everything you wrote but went right from "eggs" to "You must do the thing you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt. What a great quote!0 -
Oh eww eggs... I absolutely love them, don't get me wrong. I just can't eat them for breakfast more than a day in a row. Omurice, maybe, but not a plain egg. I'll try this in dinner or lunch instead. I actually don't watch television, seeing as it's December though, I do watch one or two Christmas specials a week and I'll have to do it then. I'm more of a YouTuber or Hulu (which has no commercials if you're plus member), so I'll just do it when it pops in my head. I just joined up for the challenge two days ago and I really hope that I'll like it here and get my goal out of the way.0

Welcome to the group, Precious!! I am not much of a T.V. watcher either, so it really will be a challenge for me to get my crunches in this week.0 -
I eat at least 2 boiled eggs 5 days a week. They are easy to get done, and I can prepare them while I am getting my exercise done. They are a great source of protein, and they are quite inexpensive as well.0

Great posts gals!!! Thank you....It warmed my heart to read that what I am writing and suggesting....that there are some out there really reading it and putting it to practice!
I had an egg salad sandwich yesterday. There is some left-over so, that is what I will do again today. Be creative and think of ways you can eat an egg or mix it with to make it more platable.
The crunches...I was soooooo super busy yesterday...that I did some in my work- out routine, but did not get any others in.
Hugs to all!!0 -
I love eggs, but I can't eat them everyday. I'm the type of person who needs variety in my life. I am however aware of the benefits of eggs and usually eat 5-7 in a week. I'll just have two in one day or one with egg whites instead to get up to my goal of 7 per week. I also eat organic free range eggs because they are way tastier and more nutritious. The darker the yoke, the better the egg! I recently visited Australia and found that no matter where I got eggs, they all had an orange yoke! That means that the chicken is eating all sorts of goodies like peppers and other plants on the range and their yokes offer more nutrition. Pale yellow eggs means a boring grain diet.
I will get on the crunches challenge, better than getting up for a snack during those commercial breaks!0 -
I had an omelette today and after running almost the entire 20 mins of the C25K week 5 day3 (it was actually 17 mins. 2,30 min break and then another 3 mins) and did some crunches as exercise and trust me, that was not easy as I always had to make visual contact, to make sure, that my legs where still were I wanted them to be as they were so heavy i still wonder how i made it home from the gym *lol*
Have a great day all!0 -
So, I did not fit in an egg today. Spent half the day traveling to a doctor's appointment with my daughter so only got a little exercise in. Sounds like Spacecurly did enough for both of us today! I stayed under my calorie goal today, but it was hard since I did not have many exercise calories. Tomorrow I will work out!0

Loved reading your posts!
@Bloodredmoon: That is interesting about the orange colored egg yolk. I did not know this. Now I will be checking them! Australia is a place I would love to visit someday!
@spacecurly: You crack me up!! You are on this!! Thank you for being an inspiration to others!
@jbul1991: I hope your daughter is feeling better. Yes, if the work-outs don't happen for that day then, there is always another day. Life happens and sometimes there are other matters that may be more important to take care of for that day.
I have made my eating an egg a day easy! Two days of an egg salad sandwich, this morning will be scrambled eggs with chopped up veggies in them. Tomorrow...something new for us to do!
The double crunches I have done every day. Maybe about 15-20 at a time the most!0
