I have been trying to research this, but the only things I'm finding don't offer anything helpful. In fact, most of them turn out to be selling progesterone pills. Is anyone aware of research on this?

Do you mean in relation to the effect that dieting may have on our estrogen and progesterone levels?

Are you talking about supplementation? Because that would be a bad thing, as estrogen and progesterone supplementation have been linked with major increases in cancer and disease risk.

If you're looking for just general research on how dieting affects estrogen and progesterone, that I've never really seen annything on.

Right. I'm wondering if being in a calorie deficit for a while can raise or lower one or the other, or perhaps both.

No, I am not taking any supplements. I am just having trouble finding anything online about these hormones, except for information on how they relate to the reproductive system. I am wondering if being in a calorie deficit for a long period of time can have an effect on them, since a calorie deficit can effect other hormones.

    Weight loss would lower estrogen:

This is the only thing I found on progesterone, not sure how relevant it is, but it's at least a start:

Thanks Rock - I checked and realized I mis-remembered and it decreased both progesterone and estrogen.

This study shows reduced estrogen and progesterone with a combination of calorie restriction and exercise: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2922999
