Silly trick that seems to be working for me

I grew up in a large family - 8 kids, six of them boys. At our dinner table, there was a mentality of eat your first serving fast so you could stand a chance of getting seconds. So I struggle with eating slow. If I focus on it, I can do it, but it's easy to fall back into the old habits of large bites and mindless shoveling.

A couple of days ago, I had just made up some of the chocolate pudding and when I went to the utensil drawer, there were no clean spoons (we have all been sick - chores have not been a focus, but I had just started the dishwasher). I spotted a little plastic baby food spoon in the drawer that I had bought for my grandson, and thought "Well, that will work".

What I found was that that little spoon MADE me slow down. So, I've used it with the pudding, the soft serve and the brownie, and find that I am enjoying the smaller bites that make it last longer. Even if you don't try it, it's good for a giggle.
