    Do you think flowers are pointless? Would you buy a girl flowers even if you thought they were if she liked them?

      Personally I don't like it when a guy brings me flowers because I feel like its impersonal. Anyone can stop at a store and pick up a bunch of flowers. I'd rather he wait until he really gets to know me and then give me something that really truly reminds him of me. That way I know I'm special to him.

      And, you just put them in water..........in a vase..........or some kind or receptacle .........and smell them..........and look at them.......lol

      I love flowers and buy them for the center of the table...it's just something bright and cheery that I enjoy.

      Receiving flowers from a man as a "just because" is the best....they are a beautiful reminder each time I pass by them of the man that gave them to me. It's not necessary for Valentine's Day, but nice.....but, I'm the type of woman that loves any kind of flower. It doesn't have to be expensive. As far as what to do with them....pick up a bouquet and hand them to your g/f....she'll know what to do with them. If you want to do more, go to the florist and have them put it together in a vase (although you save money and still keep the sentiment with the bouquet). :)

      Normally, I'd agree, but I did get awesome flowers once.... look up my post in the "best date ever" thread if you're interested... I don't want to bore everyone again here. The point though, is that they were awesome b/c the arrangement was made just for me and centered around something that was a huge pass time of mine (mountain biking)... now you KNOW you want to go read it ;-)

      But flowers made of bacon would be AWESOME!

      Yeah buy flowers but have a bunch made specifically in a florist, not just pick up a pre-made or even worse petrol station/supermarket bunch.

      Choose her favourite flower if you know this and or her favourite colours.

      Another American thing...too bad British Bacon is SOOO much better.

      OP - Flowers die, chocolate make me fat, but loading and unloading the dishwasher makes me weak in the knees...

      Haha.... here we go, I hate bacon!! I usually eat steak or sausage links with my breakfast. It's not my fault though, my mom constantly F'ed bacon up when I was a kid and I just gave up on it.
