I always find flowers depressing. Why buy something that is basically dead so someone can put it in a vase and watch them rot.

Part of the beauty of flowers is that they are not dead. they are very much alive. They'll die after awhile, but technically they are alive. Depending on the flowers, it's just hard for me to find that life, light, and beauty anywhere else. Except maybe a gorgeous sunrise or sunset.

Oh, and regarding flowers, does anyone else hate that most flowers at the florist/grocery store/wherever these days do NOT smell pretty? Especially roses? When I was younger, roses used to smell fabulous. Nowadays they look good but no pretty rose smell.
