Work outs

So anyone doing anything new or cool for a work out?? I've added snowshoeing into my mix and I love it. Also want to do some kayaking and hiking along with a mix of weights this summer.

Kickboxing. I know it probably doesn't sound super exciting but I tried it for the first time last weekend and it kicked my *kitten*. Planning on making it a routine on the weekends. I've been hiking as well. Up here in the PNW the trails are everywhere. If you dig trees and nature, this is the place to live.

My newest workout that I've incorporated into my regimen is rope training.

Takes your cardio and just makes you into a whimpering little bish. I usually use this as an end cap to my resistance training after an upper body workout.

I also enjoy the rowing machine after leg day...both are great.

I've seen the rope stuff, that kind of grew in popularity with crossfit didn't it?? Never tried it.

Drooling over the Tough Mudder courses ... I've got about 2 weeks until I can start training again. I've been going stir crazy like nobody's business over here. I'm ready to go... :)

What I really need back is hockey... nothing burns calories like a game of puck. I thought about getting back into mens league, but I've lost my competitive edge for the sport and don't think I could do it just for fun.

One of my buddies wants to start flag football games on Sundays starting in the spring... I'm afraid for my knees, when did I become such a wuss!!!

Nope, I enjoy my boring 5 day weekly split. Pretty much the laziest way to stay in shape.

Although I have been running again recently. Stopped running for a few months.

These look cool, running isn't my bag though. Can I get an eliptical on wheels and do a Tough Mudder??

Are you more right brained or left?? My right brain could never be so discipline to stick with a 5 day weekly split.

Hahaha!! We were joking about bringing a segway out last year! :) You can always walk. Plenty do that along with their backpacks of beer. ;)

I'm doing Turbofire - Awsome! Loving HIIT training as it's only 20 -30 mins. Awesome!

@ Cesar - Kickboxing is kick *kitten*! There was a similar workout in the P90X series and it burns more cals than normal cardio, so said my HRM!!

I used to play Badminton a lot. But my friends are lame and keep blowing out. I need a meetup group...............Also skiing, need a meetup group for that too..........or a b/f that does both??

Not a keen runner either. I dont have the lungs for it............:ohwell:

I started Insanity in the fall. Then I injured my foot and had to cool it with the worksouts. Just getting back into the groove now, but not quite ready for Insanity again yet...and frankly I'm scared... eeek!

I have been weight training and recently added Treadmill Hiits to my program. I tell you 20 minutes and I am sweating and feeling the burn! I do recommend any kind of HiiT training.

My friend got me up on those gymnastic rings on the tower in the free weights area. I felt all embarrassed about getting up there, but I'm in love now. Makes me feel so strong!

I also started doing more of a split as far as weight training. I was doing compound stuff 3 times a week, but I was getting lazy about it and knew it was time to switch it up. Soooo more time in the gym and more isolation junk.

Started doing more cardio again since my Grandma died of an aortic aneurysm which apparently killed my Grandpa and Great Grandmother, and was inherited by my Uncles and Mother as well. I despise cardio... But I'm also a hypochondriac.

I loved showshoeing it is a great leg and overall workout.

I have been hiking lately and am thinking about taking up trail running or mountain biking. I have a couple friends that are working at the National White Water center in Charlotte so will probably do some rafting.

I play flag football (along with kickball and softball). Just wear a knee brace and you will be fine if you are worried about your knee. We play co-ed and always have a 1 or 2 extras to replace if you get tired.

Big change for me is that I'm now trying to train early in the mornings.
Before that I was training in the evening but having more of a social life and more work piling up pretty much put an end to my evening work outs.

Apart from that, since Kit was talking about pull ups, I've been looking at calisthenics a lot and I'm thinking maybe trying "bar type" training once/twice a week. I think I'd like to have useful and efficient muscles for moving my whole body more than just "demo muscles".

Added CrossFit, and now I've also added running 5Ks with a running group several times a week. I've been running on my own, but I find that running with the group motivates me to run faster than when I go on my own.

Not sure if it's new or cool, but I'm doing some more trail running. Lots of elevation gain and then some super steep downhill running. I love it. I'm a good downhill runner... always have been so it is a lot of fun.

I want to start some sort or martial arts this summer. Don't know what....

I am the strange person and prefer to run up hill compared to down hill. I have this fear of falling when I run down hill as I fell out of control.

I've been plateau'ed for almost a year now, and while my shape has changed in that time, I really want to kick-start some losses again, as I'd like to drop another 20-25lb. That being so, I've taken advantage of a very generous offer at my day job which gives me a gym membership for £10/month taken directly from my salary, despite loathing gyms. It's going to be a real challenge to fit things in to my already-too-busy schedule, but I'm up for trying Zumba, Body Pump, Body Combat, maybe a spin class, some Pilates and Yoga - whatever classes work with my week (earplugs at the ready!) - , and working more weights - machine and free - into my exercise. Probably pretty standard for most of you, but the classes are definitely outside my comfort zone!

I started doing resistance band, handweight and body-weight exercises in the summer, and have really started to build that up recently, and I'll start cycling to or from work again, instead of walking, once it gets a bit lighter and a little warmer/dryer - I don't mind walking in the rain, but it's tricky to hold up an umbrella and steer a bike

I"m with both of you.... prefer trails (I get bored easily on the road) and also prefer the hills (it feels like more of an adventure, lol). Ah, I'm so ready to be back out there!

I was actually in a social co-ed floor hockey league for a while, it was fun and I could play pretty much whenever I wanted because people were always looking for subs. And it was at much better times than the ice times available for men's league hockey.

I'm not even sure if they have floor hockey here as there are rinks everywhere. There should be a place called gym class, and you just do all the stuff that gym classes do... I'd buy a membership.

Am a big fan of body pump. Do it twice a week to offset my regular workouts. But I want to do more core work, so I bought myself a power/sport hoop (weighted hula hoop). Haven't tried it yet, but seeing how I don't know how to hula hoop with a regular one, this should be interesting!!

I hated gym! I was the kid who volunteered to organize the equipment instead of playing. I wish gym had been just working out for 60 minutes, would've liked it much better.
