Planning for Success on Purim

What steps are you taking to make sure you stay on plan during Purim?

Here's what I'm thinking about:
- prepping a lot of healthy food to nosh on during the day - veggie platters, fruit platters, etc.
- making sure everyone has a good healthy breakfast: eggs, whole grain bread, fruit, vegetable
- not letting myself get insanely hungry at any point in the day.
- allowing myself ONE piece of nosh - that I REALLY WANT - instead of just going whole hog and giving in...
- planning the one one or two alcoholic beverages I will consume...

I haven't planned because I kind of expect the day to be a disaster.

But you're right: never get hungry, make healthy snacks available, and allow some nosh. That's my goal.

For me what's really important is to remember that even if I go overboard Purim it doesn't mean everything is over and I can go back to normal the next day. So while I'm not exactly planning the post Purim detox, I am a little bit. Carrots, hummus, water...

I am going to try and fill up on green salads + water before touching the good stuff. That way I can still indulge (it's a festival after all!) but not go overboard as I'll not be hungry anymore. Log everything, and then put in an extra couple of hours at the gym that week.

I am actually making healthy shalach manos. I said it a year ago that I was going to do it. Binah had the cutest ones last week! It was a salad in a jar. I love it! I have been collecting jars for storage purposes, and a bunch of them are not good. The lids are not wide mouth. So I am making salad with crackers on the side. (Home made crackers!)

Hubby said, just make one or two ... after people see them no one will want them. Bahahaha. He doesn't eat fruits or vegetables.

If you consider the junk as "treif", you won't eat it. Pretend it has a bad hechsher, or is milchig when you are flaishig.

I am making some black and white cookies, but they have whole wheat flour in them, and half the fat has apple sauce. They are not as fantastic as a pure, junky cookie, but they satisfy a sweet tooth. I posted the recipe on FB. I even did the calorie count here, and I believe each cookie (which is about 3" wide) has only 100 calories.

These are great steps and that's mostly what I'll be doing--meeting macros and leaving a little space for a treat.

You're right but I feel like tracking is the opposite of" imbibing to the point of not being able to differentiate" ...:drinker:

    How did everybody do?

I had one small square of cake and one chocolate covered peanut butter ball. Both my first sugar in over 3 months.

    More later...

Eugggghhhhhh its Tuesday morning and I still feel disgusting. Im not sure exactly what i had. Truthfully I was probably about 1000 - 1500 cals over, and I actually was quite conscious of not eating anything fried or totally terrible. Just a hamantash here or there, and a bit of chocolate, and a nut bar and some popcorn. I actually still had my grilled salmon and brown rice for lunch, but unfortunately all the other stuff was in addition to that.....My system is obviously not used to this kind of food anymore in these quantities, and I am totally not interested in the leftover crap that's lying around....
