The midwife today said she was not concerned AT ALL about my weight gain. She's seen healthy women gain 60-80 lbs, have healthy babies, lose it all within a year, and do it all over again with the next child! Whoa!

This sounds crazy to me but it's comforting. I'm up 40 pounds and hoping to stay at that for the next 7 weeks....but I am getting more and more hungry

You're doing great! I've known people who gained a fair amount and lost it. This thread is nice because it reminds me that each person and body is different. There's so many factors that come into play regarding weight gain........it's all subjective.

20 weeks and +14.5. I was totally ok until this mornings weigh in. I only weigh every two weeks and I was up over 5 lbs since week 18! I know I didn't eat the calories to gain that, so I will assume it is ok and normal.

    26 lbs at 27 weeks

I've have learned to accept that I will not stay under my original goal of 30 lbs and that's ok. It will just take a little longer to take the weight off. Doctors never say anything about my weight gain so instead of stressing I am going to enjoy certain foods that I will no longer be able to eat once I start dieting again.

Hi! my name is Heather, I live on the central coat of California. I just hit the halfway point in my second pregnancy (due July 24, 2013) and I decided I will post a weekly weigh-in here on Wednesday's for accountability, now that weight gain is starting to be steady! Up 12 lbs at 25 weeks. Started at 115, now 127. I don't really understand how this weight gain works- I'm set at 1/2 lb per week but average 1 lb per week. I'm set at sedentary and eat back exercise calories. Is the estimate off just b/c of pregnancy? Do our bodies gain differently? I know it doesn't matter too much right now, i'm just thinking about after the baby gets here how to set up my goal. Maybe I'm just dumb . . .

I know for sure that the numbers don't add up....sometimes I'll gain more than I think I will based on how much I'm eating/my activity level...other weeks I'll eat a lot and not gain.... I figure part of it is water gain...part of it is the pregnancy hormones....I'm going up and down at this point....after about a pound a week in second trimester. I'm almost 30 weeks and up 13-14 lbs. I tried not to check my weight at home too much, but I kind of have to now that I scored 3 points higher than the cutoff on my 1 hr glucose test and I just had the 3 hr so I'm waiting and checking for any sudden gains (which could be a symptom of gd) until they let me know that everything is ok!

I know it is all confusing!! Pregnancy does crazy things to your body....a lot of the conditions women can get have nothing to do with what they do/don't do. With a BMI of 20 prepregnancy and exercising almost daily throughout pregnancy, not going too crazy with sweets and only having gained 13-14 lbs at this point, it is strange to me that I didn't pass the 1 hr glucose test. And some women also gain a lot of weight no matter how healthy they eat....but still have otherwise healthy pregnancies and no high risk conditions.

I've thought about afterwards as well!!! Just don't stress about it....it seems like you have good habits to get it off and haven't gained very much.

Also, EWWW - I was disappointed to find out that the glucose drink tastes exactly as bad as everyone describes. :grumble:

I'm pretty sure that for me at least, the numbers don't add up. :( I'm doing okay at the moment but I know in my first pregnancy I could gain 2 pounds a week easily, even when I was definately not eating that many extra calories. I know breastfeeding efffects my body the same way too. Just focus on the good habits you've acquired know that you're body will eventually be back to normal. I know it's not easy though!

Hi, I just joined MFP in hopes of keeping my weight gain to a minimum. I don't understand how some of you have gained so few pounds! Ugh, I've already gained 10 and I'm only 15.5 weeks. Hopefully logging onto MFP will help me slow down the weight gain. I gained 45 with my first and am hoping to stay around 35 this time around.

HI, Love this thread! I've been struggling (emotionally) with my weight gain. I cry everytime
I started out weighing 135, I am now 32 weeks and have gained 30lbs. I wanted to stay under 30 lbs but not the case. I have remained active, ate (relatively) healthy, kept tracking my food and stayed within my calorie limits.
It's nice to read about how everyone is so different, thanks ladies.

I'm 23 weeks tomorrow and after weighing myself this morning am up by 12lb.
Not too bad but hoping for 25lb max weight gain if possible because I was about a stone overweight to start with!!
Not sure if that will be achievable - long way to go yet... Although my midwife said weight gain usually slows in the last 10 weeks so here's hoping!!
In the meantime I'm just trying to be mindful of what I eat and exercise regularly... Been making the most of free swimming for pregnant women which I have found in my area recently!! Xxx

I am only 8 weeks and have lost 5 lbs. No m/s. Staying active minus this last week due to insane sickness in my home and had to take care of my little ones. Also, helped with the loss because I did not find time to eat and didn't feel well because of stress with my little ones. My 1 yr old ended up in the hospital twice in a 5 day period due to two different problems. uggghhh. But, trying real hard this time around. My first baby I gained about 65 lbs. My 2nd I gained 27. Really hoping for 10 with this one. I still am 30 lbs overweight. My doc gave the ok to my calorie content for the 1st trimester. But, if I am hungry I do eat. Not getting upset with myself for going over my calories. I have made healthy choices so far, minus one week where the valentine candy called my name for a few days.

I'm up 18 pounds at 28 weeks. Like 10 pounds in the last month. But alot of that is from water retention (not making excuses lol) I just tend to swell alot and get really puffy in the last trimester, it's been like that with both my other pregnancies as well... *sigh* at least I know it will come off pretty quick when baby gets here lol...
