staying "regular"

hi all, this is kind of an embarrasing question. ive been doing the low carb thing for a week now and it seems ive gotten a bit "clogged up" for the lack of a better word. ive eaten oatmeal for breakfast the last two days but it hasnt helped much and ive been eating bell peppers onions and a little bit of carrots and califlower. any ideas on how to stay low carb and "stay regualar"

Flaxseed meal. That stuff works wonders on constipation. It is high fiber, low carb, and when made into a "Muffin in a Minute", doesn't taste bad either.

This just means you have to increase your fiber intake. Fiber is the one that makes you stay "regular" and makes the process run smoothly. Plus, it's good for your hair [or so I've heard].

Bananas are known to have a very generous amount of fiber. So do Fiber One bars, but try to rely on more organic sources for your daily fiber nutrition. I love Fiber One bars though - especially their 90 calorie chocolate chip cookies. So delicious.

Flaxseed is perfect. And here is a recipe for the muffin mentioned above.

    Basic MIM
    Serving Size: 1
1/4 cup flax meal (8.09 total carbs, 7.6 fiber)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder (0.64 net carbs)
    1 packet Splenda® packet (0.9 net carbs)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (1.84 total carbs, 1.2 fiber)
1 large egg (0.6 net carbs)
    1 teaspoon butter
(total carbs is 12.07, fiber is 8.8; net carbs is 3.27)

Put the dry ingredients in a coffee mug. Stir.
Add the egg and the butter. Mix. **
Microwave 1 minute (or more). Take out. slice, butter, eat.

**Note: I nuke the butter in the mug to melt it before adding the dry stuffs, then add the egg. Seems to work great.

Bump for the muffin recipe. THANKS!
  • Is there a comparable oven recipe? My microwave died and I've been delaying getting a new one.

I had that same problem and things became a bit rough for me, so I had to stop low carb twice before, because frankly, it hurt too much. This time around, aha, the lights came on...you must drink water throughout the day. I drink 16.9 oz when I wake up, before each meal, and after each meal - like 20 min before, and 2 during the day. Drink the water at a moderate pace. You can't just guzzle it down each time, or you will just fill your bladder and pee it out, without your body having a chance to process it properly . And diet drinks or coffee will NOT fit the bill. Some say you should drink 1/2 your body weight in water (oz). Anyway, try this for 2 weeks, for starters...hopefully, you will feel a difference and it should help.
