Constipation... Yeah, we're doing this. TMI warning

Since cutting out grain and sugar as well as some higher starch veggies and fruits, I've been constipated - sort of. My stools are not hard or anything, but they are pretty small and it doesn't seem like 'enough'

We raw feed our dogs and we noticed a remarkable difference in the amount of stool they don't have anymore! It's because they're using a lot of what they're eating. Could this be what's happening to me as well? I eat a fair amount of veggies (mostly salad, asparagus, rapini... so the leafy greens) and I also supplement with magnesium daily. Thoughts????

Your stomach could be adjusting to the increase of vegetables. Taking a disgestive enzyme supplment will help you get over this hump, and it should be a temproary. You may also want to invest in a good probiotics. I use Jarrows. Good on the Mg supplement

You can also fully cook your vegetables so they can be digested easily. A sweet potato also helps, I eat about 1/2 sweet potato a day. Some people also have problems digesting nuts.

I'm going to try with the pro biotic. I used to take HMF Forte, but all my supplementing was put on hold (except Vit D) when they put me on blood thinners. I should be off the blood thinners by April 15 thougH!

I was like that when I first started Paleo, I think your system nneds to adjust to the new diet - more veggies , but I did get back to normal eventually, I did help it along with coconut oil, and Naturally Calm, which is a magnisium drink you can find at health stores.

I am also taking Align probiotic everyday

My body took a few weeks to adjust as well, but I have not had any painful digestive problems from changing my diet. I also do not eat lots of fibre (it's a myth that fibre prevents colon cancer) but I do eat lots of fat. I eat higher quality food but less volume so it makes sense.

Were it only as simple as adding a little more bone or adding some more organ... lol. I've been at this a year and a half, and I keep some prunes around. It helps some. Or I plan to have a large lettuce salad every couple days.

Please dont' say more organ meat; I'm so not there yet hehehe. Just read your profile, and funny enough raw feeding dogs made me feel exactly the same. Why am I still eating kibble? LOL

I'm sure I can't get anymore fat... I cook everything in lard (my ILs are butchers so we rendered our own, dont' worry pasture raised animals only!)
