The Ride to Conquer Cancer

Hi all!
Anyone else doing (or considering doing) this?
www.conquercancer.org.nz
Am seriously considering it - 200km is a LONG way to bike over a weekend, but there's plenty of training time before November!
I'm in New Lynn and would be keen for a training partner - I haven't done much biking over the past few years, so would essentially be starting from scratch! Any takers?

That looks fun, I assume it's based in Auckland, it doesn't really say anything about where the route might be at all... I live in Palmy though so would be no use to you for training!0

I'm signed up to do it. Paid my money, started training, was reassured that if you don't raise the $2.5k sponsorship needed that you can still ride anyway. Then a few weeks ago I got a motivational call from them. They suggested that I start my fundraising efforts by sponsoring myself a 'few hundred' dollars. Then they told me that if I didn't raise the $2.5k I wouldn't be allowed to ride, but I could always top it up myself. I was really keen to do it, but the fundraising side of it will be difficult for me ( I live in Papakura- not a rich place). I shaved my head last year, pulled out all the stops, and still only got $1k.
I don't have a road bike- only a mountain bike, but I'd be keen to join you for a few rides!
Eta- I've decided to do the planned training, but ride the haurakie rail trail with my hubby instead- about 75k a day.0
