Losing Weight but not BF%

Right, so I've been losing weight gradually over the last year and dropped 20lbs (from 172lbs to 152lbs). It went up and down and was a struggle but I've been happy with the results. I can see a difference and so can everyone else. My BMI is also closer to the healthy range (this morning, it was 25.7).

However, my BF% hasn't budged from the 28% marker.

I still want to lose another 20lbs to reach my goal weight, however, should I be working on reducing my BF% while I try to reach my goal weight at the same time or should I focus on BF% after I reach my goal weight?

I'm getting this BF% from my weight watchers body analysis scale and from my own measurements (don't measure myself a lot I have to admit though).

Any advice would be great thanks :smile:

    Those scales are incredibly inaccurate and can be impacted a lot by water weight fluctuations: see section titled BIA http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/830595-body-fat-estimation-methods

    If you weight has gone down, you will have lost fat. If you have been strength training (assuming a decent routine) and have not had large deficits and have been getting a decent amount of protein, most of your weight loss will have been fat.

    Losing weight and decreasing BF% should go hand in hand. Caloric deficit = weight loss. Strength training + appropriated protein intake makes sure that weight loss = fat loss.

    I feel your pain, every time I measure in from bodyfat, it remains around the same percentage (25%~) even though I've lost pounds and inches. I use one of the handheld bodyfat monitors at my gym.
