Questions about Atkins Bars & Carbs

Hello,
I am curious on the boxes of the Atkins bars they say for example on the Chocolate Coconut bars "Only 3 Net Carbs"
so when I add them into MFP some people have this info listed as such and other have the actual info listed with
the full amount of carbs.
Why does the box say "Net carbs 3g" if when i put it in MFP there are more? Don't understand this.
I also started Induction today and I found an app add in for MFP that figures the Net carbs for you an when I entered the Atkins
Coconut bars it showed 10 carbs. instead of 3.
Thanks

I've also been wondering this! I've almost bought the Atkins bars on several occasions, but every time I read the nutritional info on the box I see that it's net 17 carbs or something along those lines that's outrageously high for an Atkins bar. I've double and triple checked and it's ALWAYS high (and yes I'm not counting sugar alcohols & fibers). I just don't understand the 'net 2 carbs' on the front of it...0 -

Well I love to eat them cause there so good and if you notice on the food section some ppl have them listed as Net carbs = 3 rather then the actual calories but then when I started induction today and looked i see 10 carbs for 1 of the bars i like so im also trying to get correct answers on this as well0 -
The bars typically run from 2-3g carbs, but only a couple are induction friendly. Yes, you deduct the sugar alcohols and fiber, but in the MFP database, you may have to make the adjustment if the net carbs haven't been factored in. Tizz, the coconut bars that you are referring to are only 3g carbs (I calculated 2 on the label though). See label below...

Hi ~ Thanks for all the information. I am on day 3 of Induction and have been reading all these posts for a few days now. I bought some of the Atkins bars yesterday and didn't even bother to look on the back..lol I just saw 2 net carbs on the front and thought...this sounds good. It said good for all phases of atkins. I bought the peanut butter choc crisp ones.
There is great info on this site and the one tip I had read is if your tracking on MFP, to put the word "carb" in after you search your food item and the calculation will show up w/net carbs. I had to change my avocado, because at first it had me at 9 carbs just for that.
So I knew that subtracting fiber from the carb was your "net carb" but didn't know you do that w/the sugar alchohols too? Is that true in all cases?
Thanks, Jill0 -

Jill, I wouldn't say it's true in all cases. The rule of thumb is if there are more then 15 grams of sugar alcohols then you should only subtract half of them. If it doesn't negatively effect your progress, then go ahead and deduct all.0 -
Thank you, that's helpful. Yesterday I was chewing some gum, and of course see that it has 2 carbs (who knew?), but it also had 2 sugar alcohols and I was like thinking... omg, maybe I'm not suppose to chew gum. LOL Why would I even stress about about gum? So w/this news... my gum is actually ZERO.0

Hi
Jill i am on day 3 of Induction as well and already lost weight woo hoo, Its not as hard as i thought it would be.
Did you guys know there is an app you can add to your firefox and it shows the net carbs already calculated for you in MFP?
I am using it and it seems to work really good, It doesn't show the right amount of net carbs for the Atkins bars for some reason.
I love the Atkins bars especially the Choc coconut Bar, have not tried others except this one and the peanut nougat bar.
Has any tried the shakes and if so how do they taste and what are the best flavors to get ?
Coco and Jill im going to add you as a friend if thats ok0 -

Thanks for the friendship Tizz!
I have used the Atkins app for my iphone/ipad, but mostly log on MFP, or just calculate in my head if I plan my menu for the day. After a while, the counting just happens naturally. I have tried the choc, strawberry, and cafe caramel shakes in the past. They were okay, but had a slight aftertaste. I hear that they have improved the taste, but I haven't tried any of them. My favorite was having a cafe caramel shake in the morning because it was like drinking ice coffee. Walmart carries a bundle where you get 4 packs of shakes or 4 boxes of bars, or mix & match for $19.88. There is also keto strips at Walmart, which are fairly cheap if you're interested in testing.0 -
I have the MFP app on my I-Touch, but not sure what you mean by a Carb app? I'm doing pretty good so far too on Induction. I really am not hungry that much at all. I hope this continues.
Tizz ~ Thanks for adding me as a friend. You were my first one. I never posted or did anything in the community before.0 -

I was at Walmart yesterday and was looking at the shakes but bought a box of the Atkins brownies instead Lol, I prefer to make my own smoothies but thought i might try those is why I asked, Bundle ? Not at my walmart, all i saw was packs of 4 for like $5.78, will have to look again.0 -

The app im using is here on my fitness pal, you add it to your firefox browser. Its called a user script and I can't find the link for it now but when you add it to your firefox browser it calculates your net carbs for you. They have one for WW too.0
