Pre-holiday thoughts

I am so sick of trying to figure out what to wear to work b/c I never know when Aunt Flo is coming. I mean seriously, should I just start wearing a depends every day??? :ohwell: Today I picked out a pair of khaki capris, only to discover they dont fit anymore. NICE! Well that's discouraging but probably a good thing though in case she does decide to show up today. Instead I went for a dark brown skirt.

Ok, so as I'm driving along munching on my donuts (yes, after my discovery I drove straight to the donut shop; I'm gaining weight regardless so what's the point in trying, right?!) I realize there's no way I'm going to get rid of this belly fat. It's just part of the "middle age spread" that I've always heard about but never thought would affect me. So maybe I should just learn to love the "new me". Afterall, my hubby doesn't seem dissatisfied; my kids don't love me any less. Surely I can learn to love this new me also?

Then I get on MFP and see an amazing story (w/pics) of this young ladies tremendous weight loss and how she bought her first swimsuit in 10 years. I'm thinking, kuddos to her; great job!! Then instantly am ungulfed in a wave of self pity as I think back to last weeks beach trip where for MY first time in 10 years, I did NOT wear a two-piece and had to dig out an old suit that would cover up my bulging belly and unsightly rolls.

Where does this end? Or does it just go on forever? Are we doomed to live in bodies that we are completely disgusted by and feel powerless to change? No matter how I cut my calories, or how clean I eat, or how much I workout I just seem to keep morphing into a stranger that I'm not comfortable seeing in the mirror!

But alas, it's a holiday weekend. So I guess I'll put on my "big girl" swimsuit, plop my chunky butt in the pool and try to enjoy myself. Not expecting any comments or suggestions; just needed to vent.

Going back for a third donut now. Please don't judge me. :blushing:

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!

Let me share with you just a litle ol' quote I happened to find somewhere. <wink>

"I want to be able to run and play with my grandbaby when he/she gets here. I want people to look at me and say, "there's no way you're a grandma!!"

Yes to all of the above. It is not easy and a lot of the time it may feel like a waste of time. Apart from the fact that you will be getting healthier by not having those over indulgent days every day and keeping up with the exercise. Try not to be so hard on yourself

Took a look at your photos, you look great.

having a good old moan is what we are all here for, oh and some encouragement haha..... You can do this the alternative is not worth considering.

Hope your day is getting better, enjoy!:smile:

Thank you! I know in the end it will all be worth it and I'm just chalking up this day to good ol Mother Nature. She's a beast & some days she bites harder than others! We will overcome this battle, I mean if we are able to withstand child birth I'm pretty sure we can do this too!

I just took my profile pic today.
I am wearing my size six Levi's for the first time in years.
I am 46 and in the full throws of peri menopause, not having had a "normal" cycle for a few years.
We are not doomed to our belly fat and frumpy one piece swim suitsfor the rest of our lives.
    Don't give up

OP. I know this is hard. Definitely.

My goal these days seems to be to limit the weight GAIN, so that when I'm on the other side there will be less to lose. Mustang_Susie, congrats on losing! I'm in awe. I've tried to lose 5-8 vanity pounds for over a year now and can't seem to shift more than one pound and then it pops right back as well.
