I am done with the weight loss part of surgery. I am almost 9 months out and down 133 pounds. How many cals a day do I need to maintain? My fitnesspal says about 1700 without exercise. I burn 7-900 cals a day in exercise.
Also, if anyone wants to be friends add me!!

Excellent job, congratulations.
There isn't any calculator that can figure out a caloric intake for what we have been through. The best advice that I have gotten is to start increasing daily calories slowly, "feeling" your way up. When you stop losing and begin maintaining a steady weight, stop increasing your calories. I was told to increase 50 to 100 calories a day, for one to two weeks, and if still losing, increase another 50 to 100 every day for another one to two weeks. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Our metabolisms have slowed a bit from months of very low calories, by increasing slowly, very slowly, it gives our bodies time to readjust. If you tried to jump right up to 1700, you would almost certainly gain weight. Some scientific studies that examine the time for your metabolism to get back to normal say that it should take about as long to bounce back as it took to bottom out. So, if you were on very low calories for nine and a half months, it may take you that long yo get back to 1700, or whatever your own personal number will be. Everyone is different, and in the end you just need to experiment.
Feel free to add me if you like. It sounds like we had surgery about the same time. I had RNY last August 21, am one pound from a normal BMI, and started transitioning to maintenance a few weeks ago.0 -
What surgery did you have? How many calories a day do you eat now? For RNY calories needed to maintain varies greatly from person to person. From my years in the RNY community, most seem to eat 1200-1600 to maintain their weight loss. I eat around 1700-2000 calories a day to maintain my weight. I agree with the other suggestion to add them back slowly.0
