    Great advice so far!!

To give you all an idea of the type of t-shirt I usually wear in the fall when it's a bit colder. The headless model also seems to have the same body structure as me, so you get an even better idea from these of how I look in them:

    21s9zcMVg7L.jpg

    31m5GiKjjEL.jpg

Go or no go? I don't really see anyone else wearing them...so that could be good or bad (meaning horrible style or a unique style niche).

I actually like those shirts a lot. You've got a good jumping off point. I would go for some more fitted pants/jeans. Anna is right, invest in one good pair of jeans! A good pair of shoes is key...NO SNEAKERS! Topsiders, and I really like boots like the one Daniel Craig is wearing in that picture. Clarks also has some good shoes.

My downfall is I'm always wearing undershirts...and sometimes, the collars on these shirts like the ones above are big enough that the white shows through at the neck. Not attractive, right? Kind of like seeing a woman's bra strap accidently, maybe? But I can get a couple of wearings out of the shirts that way, which makes 'em last longer.

What about those more "wife-beater" style undershirts? Or is it an issue with sweating so you need a second layer under the armpits?

For me, I think it is more how you present yourself than what you are wearing exactly. You can look damn good in jeans and t-shirt if they fit well and are clean, not wrinkly, etc. You don't have to wear jeans and a button up shirt to catch my attention, but I think that looks good when going a smidge more upscale... even jeans and a button up shirt not tucked in... hot! lol!

I generally don't tend to find 'chotches' (as I call them) attractive. These would be the 'materialistic/trendy/whatever' guys. Dressed to the nines, big chains, fancy shoes, etc. So then that turns back to personal preference and what we find attractive, will attract us... whether it be t-shirt and jeans, or dressed up.

Personally I would prefer a man in jeans and DC shoes, over dress pants and dress shoes... but as I said above -- at the end of the day I think you just need to look presentable in whatever you are wearing and be comfortable in it.

I love simple outfits on men, nice shirt, good fitting pants. Make a note here. Which shorts make more of an impression?

    cn6573958.jpg

    OR

    cn6525198.jpg

I think the answer (at least for me) is obvious. There is a time and place for number two but for me, number one is the obvious answer for tooling around town.
I hate myself right now. Earlier today I spent almost 2 hrs trying to finding shorts that fit me. The Big & Tall sections were too big and baggy. The non Big & Tall sizes were too small. I HATE being in between sizes. On the plus side, I found a XLT Superman shirt. ^_^

these are do's (other than the one on the far right don't roll your pants) but that is how pants are suppose to fit a guy.

    fob_mar_29_2011.jpg

I do not like the style of any of those... well maybe the last one.

And I like tees with funny immature sayings or pics. Bf doesn't wear them but I bought him one. It's a pic of sunglasses and it says "shady" on it.. hehe He has yet to wear it. :(

Mainly posted it for the fit of the pants. Not skinny but not baggy.

I love the style of the guy on this site, only I'm not digging the rolled up pants and some of the accessories. But he looks confident in his clothes and that is what matters. AND THEY FIT HIM!! To me, most men wear ill-fitted clothes.

I've no idea how old you are, but this is do-able for the average man. You can certainly tone down the color but he has a good rhythm going. Plain tee-shirt with a cardigan/button-down over it, well-tailored pants and a great shoe.

If you are over 25 do not dress like either of those guys. Sorry Christine that is not a look for mature guys.

You can tell my age by clicking on my name. For what can work and what can't, I think it really depends on what demographic one is in currently (from student up to established professional) and where you're going when you wear the specific clothes. There are certain places I can definitely get away with a similar style to the above. But in general, I've never been one to dress like that. Too extreme for me.

Good point, didn't think of it. I was thinking of men that I like but they're typically my age! But you can still take some of the basics and go with it for your age demographic. Maybe tone down the colors but you can't go wrong with a plain shirt, button-down over it and well fitted pants. If you're younger you can work with some more extreme colors or sneakers with it.

I'm 27. Still a student a little longer, and then hopefully a professional student in another year and a half. So I can get away with college clothes for another year or so.

I prefer a man that is comfortable in his skin.... Be confident and care about your appearance, but don't primp more than me. Iron, clean shaven (except for the occasional scruff). Know how to dress appropriately for different situations. My biggest pet peeve is men that ONLY wear jeans and t-shirts. I live in mine on the weekends and understand it, but if we're going to a nice dinner or party, put on something a little nicer.

I think fashion in England is different to America, but universally HOW jeans fit is key! And good fitting jeans dont come out of o grocery store here!! :noway: You need to buy some Levi's or Diesel or Armani or some cool brand name popular in America?? I dont really know what works out there, but here, you can definitely tell if a guy is wearing a shop brand rather than a designer brand.... We have specialist jeans shops where the guys find the best fitting jeans possible. Go to one of those (if they exist out there?) and ask for shoppers assistance.

OMG Anna where did you get the idea we get jeans at a grocery store? America is the land of jeans. All the brands you listed above are jeans that we wear. Levi's are sold at all the places he mentioned but it is a good idea to find a shop that has jean fittings.

Dafuq? Guys over 25 can't wear jeans and t-shirts? Sorry, but once guys hit about 30 we generally care less about being fashionable and more about being comfortable. During the week we are generally in our work clothes and on the weekends we are in jeans and a t-shirt. Not sure what fantasy land you live in.

    Fithealthyfor,
You need to take advice on here with a grain of salt. Some girls would probably love to dress you up in skinny jeans and a turtleneck and others will dress you up in a flannel and cargo shorts. I'd say take some of their advice but keep your style unique to what you feel comfortable in.

Invest in some good jeans. Even expensive jeans can be tight in the crotch area and uncomfortable. You really need to shop around for some that are comfortable yet stylish. Not too baggy and not too tight, and for the love of god don't join the skinny jean trend, hopefully it doesn't last long. Nice jeans don't have to be expensive, I used to love 7 For all Mankind, but their quality has really gone down for expensive jeans. Shop around.

T-shirts are actually pretty tough to buy. I've bought hundreds of them and most of them don't fit right. They are wither too short, too wide, sometimes you'll need a medium and sometimes you'll need an extra large, completely unpredictable. These days I almost exclusively wear American Apparel t-shirts. The usually fit me perfectly and are pretty soft, though a little more expensive. But it is better than wasting money on shirts that don't fit. My point is stick with brands you can trust that will fit you well.

If you're relatively slim, stick with button down shirts that are slim fit/trim fit/modern fit (every store seems to call it something different). Regular fit shirts are ALWAYS too baggy for me. Most places make wrinkle free/non-iron shirts that will save you a ton of time ironing.

Deck shoes with shorts seem to be in again, but I can't wear shoes without socks, my feet sweat too bad. I just wear sandals (without socks). Invest in a pair of really nice and stylish pair of shoes for going out in, maybe even for work. Girls like shoes.

Some women will probably say you shouldn't wear cargo shorts. They're fine, they're just a bit more casual.

Just don't wear hats unless you are going to a baseball game or golfing. But don't wear one if you plan on being inside later. People are anal for whatever reason about wearing hats inside, you'll probably offend some overly sensitive fool or you can take it off and have hat head.

Skinny jeans with the hat backwards, and big clunky shoes tend to be for the younger crowd. Well fitted jeans and a t-shirt are good for any age.

I don't understand what this "desexualizing self" through clothing is.
Clothes don't "desexualize" you and they don't "sexualize" you.

I am hot in sweatpants and I am hot in a tight dress too. I dress up because I love clothes, and fashion and appreciate men who know how to dress.
But pure sexual attraction? Clothes don't matter s(h)it when it comes to that.

Except crocs. I couldn't possibly have sex with a guy who wears crocs.

desexualizing isn't about sexual attraction. It is about men dressing like men and women dressing like women.

Well! Given the variety of opinions, my conclusion is this: you need to wear something that works for you and is compatible with the image you want to project (i.e. the image that will attract the type of women you are trying to attract).

I actually had problems with that where the kind of women I was interested in weren't probably not that interested in me as I wasn't projecting an "attractive" image to them.

As an example, I would never ever wear the ugly blue short Christine like (for me, they are the kind of shorts rich 9 years old are wearing because mum and dad asked them to) and would wear the baggy shorts instead.

Also, something that was said in the other thread but not this one is "wear an accessory" that will make people want to talk to you (but that's more on: how to get a girl to talk to you rather than how to look good in your clothes).

I've no idea how old you are, but this is do-able for the average man. You can certainly tone down the color but he has a good rhythm going. Plain tee-shirt with a cardigan/button-down over it, well-tailored pants and a great shoe.

Clothes don't sexualize nor desexualize you? I disagree.

When I wake up in the morning in sweats and a tee I would be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks "that's hot." When I put effort into my apperance it is a little different.

If a woman dresses more womanly I'm sure she gets more attention the same way if a man dresses more manly.
