Hi,
I decided to get healthy last December and have been doing my best working toward that goal ever since then. I'm losing weight and getting some cardio in. I just started some body weight strength training. My major problem right now is strength/flexibility. Once I go down to the floor, and that's not really easy, getting back up is very hard.
I'd like to do some yoga, but getting down then up then down again is not going to happen fast if I need to do it during the routine. Anyone have any good starting yoga DVDs?
Most of the body weight drills I can handle, at least to some degree, but not squats. My knees hate them. I don't routinely have trouble with my knees in normal life, running (well, slow jogging), walking, stair climbing, but jumping and squats my knees don't like. Anyone know any pre-squat exercises to get the knees a little stronger?
Thanks, Donna0 -
I couldn't wait to turn 50 in February because it sounds so incredibly chic. I'm glad that we're here to support each other because those hormonal changes make weight loss a little more challenging.0

Thanks for the invite! I'll be 53 inSeptember. This body is definitely changing, (in areas I'd prefer it not to)! Also glad to support others!0

Thanks for the invitation, I am in! It will be nice to moan about my knees and know that others understand, although Zumba seems to be doing some good in strengthening the muscles around the worn out knee joint. Have a good week all. :happy:0

I'm in. Passed 50 many moons ago but hey, it's only a number. I try not to concentrate on my chronological age but rather how I feel. Works most of the time. :-)0

Hi! I just started the Jorge Cruise Belly Fat Cure today and re-activated my MFP account to help me track the carbs and sugar. I turned 50 in October and the weight just magically appeared! I was able to get back to goal for my son's wedding June 1st but it has all been downhill since then. Looking for support and accountability here! Thanks for startin the thread.0

Hi everyone ! I'm new to MyFitnessPal and am looking forward to having some fun with this particular group!0

Hi Everyone...I've been over 50 for some time now (I'm 64) and the weight is a lot harder to keep off now. So I'm attacking it. Less sugar and carbs, more water and exercise. As the weight comes off--I am noticing that my knees don't ache as much and I have more energy. Great side effects!!0

I had a lot of regrets at first to waiting til I was 50 to start working out. I'm over it and just enjoying having a body that does what I tell it to.0

Thanks for starting this group. I'll be 53 in November. I started MFP on 01 JAN this year. Started out like gang busters and then slacked but am back on track for a total loss or 34 lbs to date. I have 2 favorite sayings, "I may have to grow old but I don't have to grow up" and "if broccoli tasted like potato chips, I wouldn't have a weight problem".0

Soooo happy that you started this group! Thanks for the invite and I'm looking forward to the journey together!0

Hello to all of you beautiful ladies! I have been struggling with losing weight and getting back into shape for over a year. Cancer had given me a swift kick but I fought back and am cancer free. Now I want to feel good and live life to the fullest. Looks like this group is going to be fun. Looking forward to being part of this group.0

Hi everyone. I'm so happy to be here! Nice to see a group of women that I can relate to. No teens or new moms. Will be nice to share the particular problems that come with losing weight and getting fit at our age.0
