I found some pasta that only has three ingredients-- the first of which is unbleached wheat flour. I was under the impression that unless it says "whole wheat" specifically, it is not clean.

Thoughts?

It's awful how intentionally deceptive labels can be. All flour is made from wheat, thus making it ok to say "wheat flour" on a label. Only if it says "100% whole wheat" is it ground w the entire wheat berry & nothing subtracted.

So, as far as I can see, that pasta is probably unbleached (naturally bleached as it ages) white flour. Now, the 'clean' part is up to you & what your comfortable with. (100% organic is another option, obviously)

Is the next ingredient semolina wheat? For taste, is all Im wondering.

    Hope that helps!

The next ingredient is spinach, haha. I went ahead and ate it, but I'm disappointed that it isn't as clean as I had originally thought.

    Thanks for the response!

Yes, I read the ingredients on most things first cause you never know what your getting. For example, most soba noodles are a mix of wheat and buckwheat. There are only a few that are 100% buckwheat. But someone may not look and it could be important, especially if they have a gluten intollerance.

As far as 'clean', I don't buy white pasta for the house, only whole wheat. This is really because I prefer wheat pasta though. But I eat white pasta out at restaurants sometimes. If I accidentally bought it for the home, I'd probably just eat it if it was an otherwise good brand or mix of ingredients. And I eat white bread too. I buy french bread for the house and other white breads. But I mix it up with other things. Point is, I wouldn't stress about it.
