What is Whole30?

Okay, Okay..... I pretty much know what the Whole30 is..... Eat whole foods for 30 days.

But, what are the differences between doing a whole 30 and just simply eating Paleo? Kinda confused as to the reasons for people who already eat Paleo to do a Whole30.....

  • Whole30 is very disciplined. For example, no butter allowed, only ghee. No alcohol. No stretching the limits of Paleo by including sorta Paleo things. No weighing yourself or taking measurements. It is 30 days of eating and living as clean as possible.

    I think you also limit fruit too due to sugar content. (?)

    {I skimmed the book It Starts with Food but have been too busy to get back to it. So if someone gives the Cliffs Notes version it will be much appreciated. :drinker: }

    The Whole30 website has an abbreviated version of the book. Here's a link :http://whole9life.com/2012/08/the-whole30-program

    My hubby and I did a Whole30 and then began eating Paleo after. We learned that cutting out certain things made us feel so much better. My husband learned that eating gluten causes him to have more frequent migraines. I learned that it made me constantly feel bloated and gassy. I also learned that dairy causes my eczema to flare. I think it is a great thing to do to help realize what foods affect you negatively and to basically cleanse your digestive tract.

    I should probably try it just to see how dairy affects me.

    I encourage everyone to try it. I am amazed how much better I feel since cutting out dairy (and gluten.) I know the dairy also affected my GI tract and now that I've cut it out, I can get away with having a little bit when I really want some. I also think that by not mixing it with gluten has made a big difference for me.
