Week 1 results on Paleo

Results from Week 1

I completed my first 7 days on Paleo without too many problems. I seem to have adapted well to the eating regime.

Some things I have learned from the first week:
-I am getting tired of eggs for breakfast and I need to switch things up
-Preparing my lunches in advance is saving me lots of money – If I don’t run out for fast food during lunch I am saving about $10.00 a day – that really adds up
-I have not missed dairy at all – potatos, I’m still working on
-I have difficulty getting in enough fat during the day
-grocery shopping is difficult because I have a husband who won’t join me in Paleo, so I have to shop for him as well – all the bad stuff I shouldn’t eat, but want to eat
- I am mentally stronger than I thought – we went to the movies and my husband had hot buttered popcorn right beside me – I didn’t eat any of it. I drank my water (Ok, I might have kissed him a little more than usual – to get the salty, butter taste off his lips, but I’m not counting that)

I did have a set back this week because I sprained my ankle one day after starting, so I have been staying away from exercise to let it heal. It’s still a bit tender, but I am starting back at the gym today. So I did the first week with no exercise.

I recently moved to the area so I am on a waiting list to get a doctor; this means no blood work was done prior to starting so I don’t have my benchmark readings.

My weight loss results:
Starting weight: 229.9 lbs
Week 1: 223.3 lbs
I am down 6.6 lbs in a week! Very excited about my weight loss and I have high hopes that this will finally be the answer.

Paleo IS the answer to health, and the weight will take care of itself. Weight loss may be fast in the first few months, but do not expect it to stay like that. Focusing on health only will help you get through the time that the scale stays the same, or goes higher, for weeks on end.

I'm glad that i don't "have" to buy non-healthy items for someone else. In fact, you don't have to either. Buy healthy food, make healthy meals, and if that's not good enough then he can fend for himself. My child eats (mostly) like me but I allow her a bit of dairy. Her health and behaviour have improved immensely.

I can't stress how important it is to get LOTS of fat. That's what will make you healthiest, fend off the craving to eat unhealthy foods, and help the weight loss.

Certainly exercise is important, but diet is most important. Do NOT stress when you can't exercise. Perhaps do some shoulder presses with kettlebells. Do what you can, when you can.

    You are doing awesome!

congratulations on your first week! Huge loss, really impressive.

If you need more fat in your diet, hit up avocadoes, butter, etc. I've also started buying whole bbq chickens which are quite fatty but make for a super easy post-gym dinner.

    That's awesome!!

I buy separate food for my family too. It's annoying. I'm going to work on NOT doing that. :)
