Paleo Ranch Recipe?

Does anyone have a ranch dressing recipe? If it tastes similar to Hidden Valley that would be ideal, it's for my boyfriend, who isn't paleo and he's cutting down on gluten by having salads for lunch now instead of fast food..baby steps are better than no steps i guess

Sniccifit gave me a link to a site for Buffalo Ranch Chicken. I'm at work and I can't find the right one online and can't open most of them anyway-internet restrictions at work. But if you search, lots of recipes come up. Mine uses homemade mayo and a bunch of seasonings. Some incorporate coconut milk, which would help make it runnier. I add apple cider vinegar. I keep the seasonings pre-mixed in a jar. I can't fully remember but there is parsley, garlic, onion and/or chives, paprika, salt, pepper, mustard powder, dill, basil, and thyme. I think. I never make it the same twice anyway.0

I don't know it this taste like HV, but it's pretty good.
Homemade Mayo about a 1/2 cup
dillweed about a tsp.
TJ's (Trader Joe's) 21 seasoning salute about a 1/2 - 1 tsp
S & P to taste
chives about 1/2 Tbl
Just enough coconut milk or heavy cream to loosen it up a tad.
My mayo recipe:
2 cups Regular Olive Oil (not EVOO)
2 Tbl of Apple Cider Vinegar (I used Braggs unfiltered)
1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
1 tsp of sea salt (I used Real Sea Salt)
2 egg yolks
I used my hand mixer on low. Whip acv, cayenne pepper, salt, and egg yolks until mixture turns a creamy yellow. Slowly drizzle oil and continue mixing until all the oil is incorporated. This took me about 10-15 minutes, but if you have an immersion blender then it comes together a lot faster I'm told (I don't have one, so I just use my handheld).0 -
Tessemae's Zesty Ranch is paleo friendly and very delicious. I'm a ranch addict. It can be found in the veggie section of most grocery stores (I found it at Whole Foods).0

Wow just checked it out and they blew my mind. They use olive oil. I've never seen it in Canada though.
Still, it's really quite easy to make homemade condiments, especially salad dressings and then there is absolute control with what goes in it (I like playing with the spices). I limit olive oil so using other oils (avocado, macadamia, bacon grease etc) is a must for me. The main point of Paleo is to avoid processed foods. There's a heck of a lot of new "Paleo" products on the market these days and most of them really aren't.0 -

I don't have am immersion blender either! I tried making mayo twice & failed horribly It just is runny & doesn't emulsify. Maybe I'm pouring the oil too quickly or just not whipping long enough? Any advice? when should it start to thicken?0 -
thank you all for the suggestions! I just bought the Tessamae's Southwest ranch but I have a feeling he's going to want it creamy like the 'normal' stuff. I'm not even going to tell him its until after he likes it :laugh:0

I use the whipping attachment to my Kitchenaid handheld beater. I beat the egg mixture until it turns a pale yellow and I'm able to coat the back of a spoon (not runny or watery). Then I pour a little stream of oil while beating and stop pouring the oil and then beat about a minute more. Repeat until I've used up all the oil. It's always come out thick and creamy. Hope that helps!!!0 -

Don't have a whipping attachment... but I'll give it another go!0 -
Gotta try making this.
Immersion blenders aren't that terribly expensive (maybe $30). I use mine for a lot of things and the first time I ever tried making homemade mayo with it, it set up very nicely!0
