Just read it...I wish MFP would sticky this to the Getting Started forum...although only about 10% of people actually read the stickies lol.

Thanks Sara! Bookmarking to hand out to the newbies

    I've tried to resist, but I can't...

How come they give that advice out for free? Surely it should cost an Armi and a Legge...

    sorry. I'll get my coat..

"Your diet isn’t magical; it’s just easier for you to follow."

    I love this statement.

I must confess that I started this whole weight loss journey on the Slow Carb Diet [SCD] (Tim Ferris) and immediately saw results. It was easy for me and I thought it was magical. I was a convert and pundit. I told everyone about how great it was and how calories in vs. calories out was a myth. I did that for a year and lost a lot of weight, so I thought I was right.

I joined MFP in Feb to start tracking macros. I grew weary of all the posts that stated "caloric deficit = weight loss, doesn't matter if you eat pop tarts." What a crock of hooey that was. Clearly SCD was the answer and you people just weren't getting it. Low carb, clean eating was the right answer.

I've learned a lot since February. I have learned that it really is as simple as calories in vs. calories out. More importantly, I have learned that I can eat fruit, yogurt, milk, oatmeal, bread and rice and still lose weight. I've learned that macros are important, too. But I have to manage all of this within the context of ME. What works for me and my brain housing group. I still follow SCD on most days. But not strictly. I eat fruit every day. I eat oatmeal and yogurt almost every day. I had pancakes for breakfast this morning. I do all of this knowing exactly how I will react and exactly how it will affect my health goals. I know ME very well.

So, THANK YOU for this article. It clarifies everything.

    Tom
