Can I use nitrate free lunch meat as a protein choice?

    Good question. I would say yes, assuming we're not allowed deli meats because of the nitrates. But I could be wrong.

    You can but its not a very good protein source.

    deli meats are low in protein compared to the actual meat. They are just too processed. You're better off not eating them, nitrate free or not.

    Preserve the meat. But unlike salt which is natural, nitrates are chemical.
