Does drinking diet soda mess up your carb count? Are there hidden carbs?

Diet soda does not "mess up" your carb count. However, artificial sweeteners are, in general, a YMMV thing (your miles may vary). Some people may experience stalls due to the sweeteners. Also, it can be challenging to drink the amount of water needed if you are also drinking soda.

No, no carbs in diet soda. I know many people that drink a lot of diet soda. Personally, the carbonation helps me keep full so instead of snacking on junk I'll just drink a diet soda and call it good. While it helps my sweet cravings at times, it also does the complete opposite and make me crave sweets even more. When people tell me that diet soda makes you fat, I also said "no no no, that's BS, shut your face, you're just talkin' out of your @$$" lol But then I began to notice within the last couple months that every day I drink soda, my cravings are worse than it would have been had I NOT had the soda. BUT that's just me. It's different for everyone. What works for one doesn't always work for the other. :)
  • It does not, However as a person severely addicted to soda drinking I would reccomend if you are starting this lifestyle drop it all together. When i started i went to the store and bought a 100 oz bottle for water for 2 dollars. I fill it up every day and just drink. I hated water, The taste was disgusting. Even filtered water. I had to force it down. Now I have absolutely no cravings for soda or Juice. I drink my 150 oz of water that I should be based on my water intake calculator just sitting in my office all day. I am rarely "hungry" because I am staying hydrated. My recommendation is only drink a diet soda if water is not available.

On a side note, I am drinking so much water now that I actually am enjoying the taste of tap water. No one else at my office will drink it. They have to have a water filter to drink the water here. It just takes too damn long to fill up a 100 oz jug :p

All my life my mom told me I should drink more water... no I finally am and I am loving it.
