I bought a jar of Almond butter on Monday and it's already almost gone :noway: I know they say on websites that you can have seeds and nuts but how much is too much ?? Should I cut it down to 1-2 tablespoons a day, does it really not matter how much you eat of it ? I use to be addicted to Peanutbutter before going on Paleo and now i'm finding myself craving Almond butter just like I did with the peanut butter... and no i'm not pregnant lol

I would say to be aware of how much you're eating.

A lot of it depends on your goals. I think you were saying in another thread that you were looking to lose ~20lbs?
Nuts are pretty calorie-dense and if you find you're not losing as much as you'd like, maybe looking at lowering your almond butter intake would be a good idea.

Are you also consuming other nuts or nut butters? Nuts have a higher omega-3 profile so eating too much of it can cause an imbalance of omega-3s and -6s.

Either way, if it's between eating a bag of chips and having a tablespoon of nut butter, you're better off with the nut butter.

If you find you're feeling a little peckish throughout the day, maybe look at eating more during meals so that you stay satiated. Another thing could be to pair up your nut butter with some celery or an apple and use a little less than you usually would.

Yes my goal is 20 pounds, I was trying to lose it by Christmas but right now im trying to focus on feeling better and detoxing my body from gluten..

I find myself craving sweets and so I grab a jar of Almond butter and take a spoon full out or at night instead of my normal glass (or bottle) of wine i'm having sliced bananas or apple with 2 spoonful's of Almond butter... It's a 16 oz jar and it's almost gone :( I don't eat big meals during the day due to not being hungry or not having time so its easy for me to just grab the jar , take a scoop and carry on with my day..

Since I want to lose weight and improve my over all health i'm wondering if I should cut back on it and only have it maybe twice a week instead of daily..

I some times eat raw or roasted almonds but only when i'm heading out the door i'll grab a handful.. I can't afford other nuts since they are just so expensive where I live.

Nuts are good for you, but they are higher in calories. If you're not taking in too many calories, then it probably doesn't matter. That said, you need to have diversity in your diet to ensure you're getting the proper nutrients. Eating a lot of one thing can be a problem if done for an extended period of time.

I can eat a jar of almond butter in one sitting...it's so damn good. That said, a great way to kill the sugar cravings is to do a Whole30. Honestly, when I finished mine, sweet things were too sweet. It was one of the best things I ever did.

Yeah, what PrimalRunner said. A jar of almond butter doesn't last two days in my house. I'd say if weightloss is your goal, ditch the almond butter completely. I bottomed out at ~178lbs and ~11.5% BF earlier this year. After binging for a couple months (including more jars of almond butter than I can remember) I'm up to nigh 200lbs and ~17.5% BF now.

Not saying that almond butter is the only culprit there, but it certainly is a primary go-to binge item for me.

sounds like what is needed is some other types of snacks pre-planned and ready to go. cook up some chicken breast and keep in the fridge. keep cut up veggies in bags to grab and go, that kind of thing? :)

I go through a jar a week, between 2-4 tbsp. a day, and I almost never go over my calorie needs. As long as you don't east the whole jar in 2-3 days, everything's good :) It's addicting though, one of may favorite snacks!

Ya, great comment. Having hard boiled eggs or some jerky or pre-cut veggies handy for a snack is great.

I do have a carton of hard boil eggs, I need to cook up some chicken to have on hand... I stopped counting calories to give my mind a break, I've been counting calories for years and I got sick and tired of always worrying if I had enough or have enough so right now my main focus is when I am hungry I eat healthy and stay away from gluten since Im gluten intolerance.. I don't get hungry very often but when I do I normally tend to want something sweet or salty and I think that's why I was so addicted to peanut butter... My family always jokes about how if I was stranded on a island peanut butter is the only thing I would need lol...

Today instead of grabbing the jar I had half a avocado and a piece of chicken from last night.... Hopefully I can limit my almond butter intake
