After two starts and stops due to injuries I finally learned to take it slow and do a little bit of stretching. What a difference it makes. I just completed week 6 and jogged 2.25 miles this morning (151/2 min per mile pace). I couldn't even imagine jogging this far when I first started the program. I feel really good. No soreness or pain. Next week will be a challenge at 2.5 miles, but thus far every time I didn't think I'd make it I just did a quarter mile at a time and to my wonder I achieved the goal. My daughter is urging me to sign up for a Thanksgiving 5k with her. I think I might just do it.

Great job! That is such an accomplishment. And you completed our 3.1k challenge, too!

Congratulations! I just did that last run today and I did it! A year ago I was running for karate and I was in lots of pain. I could never finish running a full mile. Today I did 2.3 and it felt great. My speed isn't good still but I figure that will come with time. Yeah for both of us!

It will come really quickly in the next few months if you just keep running. A lot of the speed you gain in the first year is from physiological changes as your body adapts to running.
