Hi, I'm Jesse, I am trying to do more of my own cooking and am always on the lookout for good recipes. A friend of mine started a similar group on facebook but its not very weight loss friendly or focused on mostly healthy recipes as I hope this group will be.

Bonjour! I'm Megan. I don't do much cooking these days as I don't have a lot of time to do the oodles of research required to figure out what I can have. I'm trying to give away a kidney and after losing weight have ended up with high blood pressure AND possible diabetes even though I had none of these issues when I was heavier.....so trying to figure out what I can possibly eat that is reduced fat/sodium/sugar AND still sufficient calories is a gong show. I'll take whatever healthy recipe suggestions I can get so I can stop taking 10 times as much time researching what I'm going to eat than actually putting the thing in my mouth....lol0

Wow, that sounds rough! Have you read "The Skinny on Losing Weight Without Being Hungry by Louis J. Aronne Md. and Alisa Bowman. Its all about eating a low glycemic diet properly. It really helped my dad, he was considered pre diabetic a few years back. Its not a cookbook but more of a guide with food suggestions for a low glycemic diet.0

Haven't looked at that yet. I'll have to see if I can find it at the library and have a peek. The problem is if you have to sacrifice one area you're going to end up with more somewhere else and I not only have to be reduced sugar but also reduced fat and sodium because of my high blood pressure....aaaaaand I was just reading somwhere that too much protein can have some super negative affects on your kidneys.....and the point of allll this losing weight business in the first place was so that I could donate a kidney to my dad because the only problem I had 4 months ago was that the surgeons in the donor program don't operate unless you're under a certain BMI. So...lose some weight and I'm golden, right? Wrong. I've just gone and picked up all kinds of problems I never had when i was fatter.0

All this time I have been afraid that being overweight put me at risk for diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure (which run in my family along with weight issues) I never had any problems when I was stick thin except slightly elevated cholesterol on and off which is also genetic. I have all the good genes!0

Hi there! I am 26 soon to 27 and I love to cook.... And food in general  I have been in this journey for a while now, to be exact since February 19th of 2013, and have tried many good and healthy recipes. I am now back in school and I have much less time to cook but i still cook a bit and try to find some not too long recipes or slow cookers one! I love to find recipes loaded in vegetables for the nutrition and for being less caloric! Nice to meet you all!
TMegan: what a story! It is weird!0 -
