Meh.. sigh... I am in a funk... the winter is such a hard time for me.

Get a daylight lamp. Sit under it while you eat your breakfast. Seriously - this makes ALL the difference for me. Sorry you aren't feeling all that great - even a slow walk will help you feel better!

So, a little while ago I noticed that there was a leak from my bathroom in to the room below. I thought it was a pipe, so I started to take up the floor. Got the tiles up, came to floorboards. Now this posed a problem, this is an old house and the floorboards were there before the bathroom. So rather than rip the whole thing out, I knocked out some of the ceiling below. This is now about 4 weeks ago. There is no leak. I have run all the taps etc and the only time there is any water it is when someone is actually in the shower. So I came to the conclusion it must be the shower cubicle seal.

I have now resealed that twice! And I think it may need another go. The main difficulty is getting it dry to apply seal!

And I have a hole in my ceiling. It's not huge but I cant plaster it (I am not good enough) and well there is a hole. I could use plasterboard, but it's not that big a hole and I have no way of transporting the size of plasterboard you can buy!

Anyway, my boss (who had the idea of going through the ceiling in the first place) found a smallish piece of board this week for me. I brought it home tonight and I think I have managed to get it to stay up using masonry nails and polyfilla (the whole is not 2 rafters wide) I need to repair the artexing but I reckon I now have enough of the hole covered that I can skim and artex it (it might not be the best artex but...)

So then I went in to the kitchen to make some tea. It's now 8pm, I have been at work since 9am, and been to the gym today. Before I start my tea I decide to empty and reload the washing. My house mate had done a load this afternoon.

We have 3 dogs between us. When I wash their beds I have a bag that velcros and catches most of the hair. It's a pain as it takes up half the load itself but it stops the hair blocking the pump and means the washer is not so full of hair when you wash clothes.

My house mate had very kindly washed some of my stuff, some of hers and a dog blanket. All the clothes are full of hair as is the pump and pipe. And the washing is saturated, machine full of water. So now I get to do some plumbing too. Pump out and cleaned, water all over the floor (tiled!) then unscrew the pipe and clear that where it gets blocked.

And finally I can make my tea. By that time it was 9pm and I am totally totally shattered. So while it was cooking I nipped in and did another seal in the bathroom. Which means I now have to go to the gym in the morning as I can't use the shower for 24 hours. Oh well, it is an incentive to get out there tomorrow too!

About the socks, I figured. But I didn't realize DL ruined your legs so much! Now I'm scared.

Thanks for the well wishes for my DH. Hopefully he will be better soon and this won't be a long term pain.

Roxylola, that stinks. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Roxy - You can always cut the hole bigger so that you can use drywall screws to secure the board to the floor/ceiling joists. That also helps you clean up the edges on the hole. Just trim along the edges of the piece of board you have to use as the filler and that way you have a perfect fit.

Skimp - I use a wrist wrap, I got it at a local sporting goods store for about $10. Some people use gloves that have a heavy wrist support, but I don't like the gloves. Mine are Harbinger, but I've heard good things about Rogue and Inzer wraps.

Barsense is a free and nice little app - currently on Android, they hope to release ios version in January.

tracks depth, velocity and bar path - here's a screen shot.

Just ordered this wrist wrap, thanks girlie100 for the recommendation. i also thru in the grip lotion, cause it was cheap, and the weights are starting to get heavy which makes my hands sweaty. and it's can't be as messy as chalk, i hope its's effective though.

I'm going to have to check that app out. Thanks for posting it.

I really need a rack... I don't know that I will ever get to add weight to my squats. I was going to buy a cheap squat rack in the new year, but my phone isn't working right and I need a new one. They are so expensive, so I will have to wait on the rack.

Merry Christmas! And Happy Holidays to those that don't celebrate Christmas!

It seems I took a week off form working out this holiday season. I was tired and meant to just take 2 then I got sick and then today (7 days after my last lifting session) the gym was closed! Okay, okay I am going after work but still I got up at 5am and the gym was closed. My gym is up by my work so I had to drive back home and shower and change for work because the drive back to my house took enough time that I could squeeze in a workout and get to work on time.

I really wish I had room for a squat rack in my house. The basement is just a smidge to short for me to do OHP properly and the 2nd bedroom upstairs is well upstairs and I don't know that it could handle all that extra weight. I don't need weights crashing into my living room. The last place is the garage but it is already crowded and hubby has his workstation out there (though he doesn't use it much). I might re-visit the garage if I think we could re-arrange stuff so he had his little workstation and I could have my rack (if I find one I like).

Vendy, we have the same problem with our basement. I wish the ceilings were just a bit higher, it would be perfect. I'm using the garage and my husband has his work out there so it's crowded, but it works. But in this cold, it is way too cold out there. It warmed up a bit so I was out there again after over a week off. But then it has been so cold again so I haven't been back out since the weekend (also so busy with the holidays).

So, did most of us survive the holidays? I did - barely.

Who got cool fitness stuff from Santa? I got a Fitbit Flex, but I already have a Zip. I don't really want to wear the bracelet style and I'm happy with my Zip, so I think I'm going to return it. I also got some workout pants and top. I bought myself some new bright purple Chuck's I found on sale, when I was Christmas shopping.

I envy you people with basements. That's not something we have in Houston.
