I've been sick with a cold off and on for the past month or so. (I have a toddler and a 9 month old.. we keep passing it back and forth) It has caused me to gain then lose weight repeatedly. I seem to fluctuate around 193. I have definitely gotten a lot bigger, and baby is definitely growing! My doctor checked her growth last time and she was actually measuring ahead, so that makes me feel somewhat better about losing. Getting near the end so I am a little nervous about my weight shooting up. I keep trying to remind myself how quickly most (if not all) of it comes out afterward. It's just so hard to be that close to 200 for me. Not to mention 191 was my 2nd prepregnancy weight and 187 my original prepregnancy weight before baby #1. It's exciting to be close to those goals, but I have to remind myself that right now, they aren't goals, a healthy baby is the goal.0 -
I am 3 days away from my due date with Baby #3 and my weight gain is as follows. Pre-pregnancy weight 125 lbs at 5''2'. First trimester about a 2 lb gain. Second trimester 17 lb gain. And third trimester about 6 lbs gained. As of yesterday morning i weighed 150.4 lbs so I am looking at a 25-26lb gain this pregnancy. I ate well and logged my food most of this pregnancy. I also have a set of DVDs called ''Body by Trimester'' by Joy Southworth which includes two challenging30 min prenatal circuit training workouts plus one 15 min express workout. I did these workouts 3-5 days a week (including this week). Cant wait to have this baby already! Will let you know if my labor is any shorter this time since with my other 2 i had long labors and i started off overweight, did not exercise or eat well with those pregnancies. Good Luck everyone!
You are my hero currently! I'm 5'2"/5'3" started 135 and on my 3rd baby. I would LOVE a 25 lb weight gain! I feel like I'm a little off track, but you did so awesome your third tri (weight gain wise) you give me hope! I was overweight starting both of my other two pregnancies too, much better this time around. Best of luck on your next labor!0 -

Thanx! I found that setting my calories at maintenance and logging my food intake consistently together with regular exercise helped keep my weight in check. I did gain most of my weight during my 2nd trimester, i guess thats just the way my body works. Wishing u lots of luck and a happy and healthy pregnancy.0 -

your not the cow in the group, everybody gains different amounts at different times and its the people who haven't gained very much are the ones most likely to post about it ;-)0

Continued to lose until week 14: Down to 151
Week 16: 156.8
Week 17: 157.0
Week 18: 160.2 (+ 3.2)
First gain and it's a lot. Not too happy about it. Was hoping to keep to 1lb per week. I was sick this past week and wasn't able to exercise. Hopefully getting back to the gym will help tame this for next week.0 -
I'm 21 weeks and am down 16 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. Started at 185 and am now 169. Baby is growing though! At my ultrasound at 17 weeks he was 6 ounces and the anatomy scan last week at 20 weeks he was 13 ounces so definitely gaining the way he should be.0

Thank goodness!!! I couldn't really see how I had gained that much in a week. Maybe it was just some extra water weight, I don't know!!! I have my next visit on Tuesday at 25wks. Great job everyone!!!0 -

OMG this makes me feel so much better! I am 23 weeks and have gained 2.5 lbs in like 3 days! I'm sure it's just water weight too and what not, but it's made me want to cry. ANd I don't want to have it continue the whole time! I will just try to get better about eating (I've had some fried food the last couple of days) and hopefully it's just bloat that'll go away.0 -
28 wks 5 days and I have gained 15 lbs:ohwell:0

22 weeks and I've gained about 18 pounds (although it fluctuates a lot, I've already hit the 20 pound mark and come back down).0

Had my weigh in at the doctor this week, almost 29 weeks and I'm up 16 pounds. Feels like a lot to me but since beginning my pregnancy at a healthy weight range my doctor is very pleased so far. Hoping not to go over 25 pounds by the end!0

Not at all. I haven't even dared weigh myself! I'm doing everything right (exercise, healthy eating, running after 2 young kids)but this is my third and I have a big bump, so bet I've gained a lot.
Some people have more fluid than others for example.
As has been said, I reckon a lot of people won't post if they've gained a lot. Also, if you look at some starting weights, they might be higher than yours.
Upon giving birth, you lose a good few pounds - baby, fluid, blood, placenta - and then within 6 weeks a good few more. Even if you put on 40lbs, you might be left with say 20 to lose. I'd be happy with that. I lost 67 after my 2nd baby (baby weight and then some) so 20 seems very doable!0 -

Your pregnant- that's what happens, your on to hit the recommended weight gain and have a maximum of say 6 weeks to go, you've done well, I don't get why people are so obsessed with not gaining a recommended amount?!0 -

my thoughts exactly! the point is to not go beyond the recommended amount depending on where your were pre-pregnancy. I was considered overweight pre-pregnancy so I'm trying to stay under 30lbs.
I'm 24 weeks and up about 17 lbs and that's with eating at or just above maintenance.
The point is to have a healthy baby...most of weight will come off after the baby arrives.
Reading this thread depresses me sometimes because there's some women on here who barely gain a lb or or little weight and it makes me feel like a massive whale. But I have to remind myself that every pregnancy and woman is different.
Just eat right and exercise and everything will turn out okay.0
