Diet Soda

I love my diet soda every once in a while. :blushing:

And it's pretty hard to give up while on the Atkins Diet, when you consider the fact that it contains 0 carbs.

It also helps to curb my appetite. :happy:

Has anyone on the Atkins Diet experimented with drinking soda while on the diet, and then cutting it out completely (while still on the diet) to see if it made any difference?

I'm curious to know! Thanks!

    I don't know. I haven't had soda in years. But I do know that drinking hot tea cuts down on the cravings too. Having a cup of hot tea at night keeps me from doing any nighttime snacking.

    I'm no expert, but I think the theory is, whatever "diet" you're on, that the artificial sweetener in diet soda tricks the brain into thinking its real sugar causing metobolism to slow and may make you crave more sugary things. The carbonation may also play a factor.

    I've never completely cut out diet soda so I really wouldn't know. Fountain Diet Cokes from McDonald's were/are kind of a "treat" (not that I limit myself, just that it was one thing I didn't have to alter at all by doing Atkins) and I was already changing my eating habits so much that I could let myself still enjoy something without worrying about carbs or calories. You could go for it to see if you lose a little more but, eh, I don't think I personally could ever fully cut out soda.
