hunger

After hearing so much about low carb leaving you less hungry, I am struggling with some frustration. I have admittedly only been doing this for the last 3 days so I'm looking for some reassurance I guess. At night I really struggle with being hungry. The other night I made 4 pieces of bacon but last night I just toughed it out, but was almost sick from wanting something to eat.

I guess my question is.... is it possible that this is more an emotional adjustment or am I doing something wrong (my diet is open) or is there truly something called carb withdrawal and have any of you ever dealt with this issue?

Thanks.

First, it's only been 3 days. Eating low-carb is COMPLETELY different from the way that you were eating. YES, you will go through carb and sugar withdrawals...for me it feels like the flu with a nasty migraine to boot. After about a week, it goes away. If you're hungry, EAT! Don't count calories for at least the first month, until you get used to eating differently. Add more fat and fiber as well---those will help with cravings and that grumbly tummy. Flaxseed meal muffins are a great source of fiber.

    Good luck!

I agree with what crepes and strawmama said.

I've admittedly gone off and on the wagon more than a few times and the first several days are an adjustment. I definitely feel hungry when I'm first trying to get back in ketosis.

The first few days I was absolutely miserable and cranky. I wasn't so much hungry but I just wanted stuff I knew I couldn't have. I also felt really tired and sick which made me want to quit. After about the 5th day I was feeling much better. I'm almost done with my 2nd week and I'm hardly ever hungry which is a first for me! Its tough but once you get past the first hurdle its much easier.
