Glad things are back on track Jules! And I love your new profile photo.
Sorry I didn't get on here yesterday. Had an eye appointment from 1:00 to 4:30 getting ready for corrective eye surgery (PRK). They deep dilated my pupils at the appointment, so if I took my glasses off I could see stuff on my phone (2 inches from my face) but couldn't read with my glasses on so the computer was out. She told me it would wear off this morning and I thought she meant by the time I get up but apparently not because they're still about half dilated. Which means I can only half see this and actually it's giving me a headache so I'm going to stop now and come back later.0 -
Julie, I came across this article today and it is SOOO for you! I can hardly think of a more stressful time than planning a wedding (and all of the relationship turmoil that comes with said stress), so here's your answer to all that stress....

I like that it singles out just 20 MIN PER DAY--totally do-able for everyone.
LOVE today's thought for the day, which also is hit upon in the article above (even starting at 5min a day, as the author posits).
So, today my son had a photoshoot & no school. I've got lil girl all day. I keep trying to convince her to go out for a bit, but she seems really sleepy & tired today, so idk if it will happen. Tonight we'll go watch my son at tkd (belt test). This week is definitely turning out to be a rest week for me, as I learned DH has an appt tomorrow, which leaves me with both kids again. That's okay, I needed the time off and as for the gym, it's true what they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder--I'm looking more and more forward to getting back with each passing rest day.
Have a good one all.
Laura, hope your eyes & headache get better.0 -
Kara Goucher (from the tread starter) is from my neck of the woods. The half marathon I'm running this summer is in Duluth, where she grew up. Here's an interesting article about her back story:

My eyes are finally getting back to normal. I talked to someone from my eye clinic about an hour ago about something else (I had a question about one of the forms they asked me to sign) and she asked if my pupils were still dilated. I said yes and she recommended caffeine, so I cracked open a diet coke.
I have a trainer session tonight, and am scheduled to run.0 -
Glad your eyes are better Laura.
I went walking in the snow today with a friend, more like a mini hike. First we walked in our boots, then went back for ice cleats. Then got our snow shoes as the melting snow we kept falling through deep.
Lots of good exercise though! Bright sun out, melting everything fast!0 -
So today was a good day!!! I went for a run on the treadmill for 35 minutes totaling 3.42 miles then I did 10 minutes on the rowing machine. I also competed an hour Power class so my arms and legs are so tired!!!
Thanks Sherry for the article I will definitely give it a read. The thing is this is both of our second marriages and we both want it to be about family and no stress. He has a total of 15 aunt and uncles and we just can't afford to invite all of them so the thing is we aren't inviting any of them. You can pick and choose and I only have one aunt so I am inviting her since she has ovarian cancer and is currently in remission so we don't know how long we will have her in our lives. So I am going to compromise, I am just going to purchase a white dress and not a "wedding" dress so it keeps the cost down. Hopefully it is clear sailing from now to then it is only 6 months away!!!
Laura: so happy that your eyes are better !!0 -
Sounds like a fun time, Maria, tromping through the snow with a friend!
Nice exercise day, Jules! Sounds like a nice simple wedding. Hope everything goes well.
Glad you can see again, Laura, and hope the operation goes well.
Keeping resting, Sherry. When you have time to get going again, I'm sure that you will mentally and physically be really ready to go go go again.
Today I ran the 1.5 miles to my Metabolic Conditioning class and when it was over ran the 1.5 miles back .. in the dark ... and the in rain ... and the wind. I actually had been watching the weather and was expecting all of that. The temperature was 63F and I had a baseball cap and running shoes that could handle puddles well, the sun had set, but there was enough light on the route. Plus it really was only a mile and a half. I wouldn't have gone to the class in the rain because I wouldn't have wanted to deal with wet shoes the whole time, but getting wet going home really wasn't a big deal when all my clothes were tech fabric, not cotton.0 -
Laura, I really enjoyed that story. Thanks for linking that. All the "girly girl" stuff reminded me of my little girl, who is all about pink and clothes & accessories. It's cool to think that even with girly-girliness, there could be an athlete in there, just like Kara Goucher. Kara's story really is extraordinary (did I read correctly about qualifying for the Olympics just 16mos after giving birth?!!?) and it's cute how she just sees herself as a dork. Cute. (Glad to hear your eyes are better. Hope the surgery goes well too.)0
