As a gastric bypass patient I know I not supposed to take Tylenol. Is there anything I can take over the counter for pain.

It's ibuprofen that you can't take (Advil, Motrin, etc). My Dr said Tylenol is fine (acetominophen). Aspirin is also on my NO list.

Ditto. I'm a sleeve, but my doc's sleeve and bypass patients got the same instructions as far as pain relievers. No NSAIDS. Tylenol is okay, asprin, naproxin, advil NOT okay. You should double check with your doc to be sure though.

You guys are correct. I had it all turned around I was taking naproxen for knee pain before my surgery and that's what they told me I could take anymore. Thanks for getting me straightened out :)

i miss motrin. check with doc, but some OTC topical creams give relief, as do heating pads, or ice on knees after exercise.
