i was talking with somebody yesterday about how important it is to find the right "peer" group on MFP. we often change our habits and behaviors due to the implicit peer pressure of our friends. that can be a good thing and that can be a bad thing. on MFP, if your friends tend to be IIFYM'ers and debunkers of junk science and Dr. Oz-style quackery, then i think this implicit peer pressure can be a very good thing. it can put people on the path to success and they may never realize how lucky they were never to fall into the clutches of the shake salespeople!
so thanks for this group Sara and SideSteel. i appreciate what you've done here and i respect you both. especially Sara... 'cause let's be honest, she does most of the heavy lifting around here!

I hear that! I was doing something silly like attempting to cut out sugars and most other carbs out of my diet. What a miserable B i was during those dark days

I am shy and don't post here but I read through the topics daily (or close to it). The links in the "important posts to read" sticky have honestly changed my life and are responsible for the number on my ticker. Thank you both!!0 -
It's definitely true about the peers you have as friends on mfp. My friends list has definitely evolved over time - from low cal newbs when I first started to more IIFYM weight lifters. I'm definitely happy with the way things have gone.
Thanks Sara and SideSteel!0 -
I'd have definitely gotten on the wrong path if not for you guys.0
