Blood pressure

Now that I am back, I was able to discuss the results of my 24hour blood pressure test with my doctor. The mean turned out to be 137/76 so it was slightly elevated. He gave me a prescription for blood pressure medicine. I was afraid to take it as I am not a medicine person.
I can't believe the difference in my energy and how I feel. I feel like I am 20 years old again. I am jumping out of bed ready to go. I have no more swelling in my feet.
They say there usually isn't symptoms of HBP but sometimes it can be subtle like overall tiredness or lack of energy that one might take for getting older.
Just thought I would share my experience.

That is terrific that you feel better! I'm so pleased for you!
As you lose weight, you may find like I have, that you need less BP medication. That is one thing that I've been really happy about lately is that my BP has been quite low because of my weight loss and exercise.0 -
Mspoopoo, I am sorry that your BP is a little high, but so glad you are getting positive side effects from the meds.
That is great!!0 -
Glad the meds are helping make you feel better.
I agree with Frayde, that as you lose the weight you may need less medicine. My doctor has cut my medicine in half and my BP is still low, but he wants to wait a little longer before stopping it completely.
Take care0 -
Thanks everyone. The doc said to come back in 3 months and see how it is going.
It might be hereditary type. I guess we'll see.
My husband is 20 years younger than I am and 6'3 and about 175 and has hbp. His is the hereditary type.
I just can't get over how good I feel.0 -
If it is hereditary or if it can be controlled with diet/exercise, the good thing is that it was discovered and rectified!
This way you will feel so much better and you can get in more exercise that may arrest the problem. For sure, the added exercise will help you keep other health demons at bay and lose a few pounds in the process. :drinker:
Thanks for the info about the symptoms. It is good to know what to look for.0 -
So glad your feeling good. My doctor cut my bp meds in half a year ago after losing weight. I am hoping that after losing the rest off the weight I will be able to get off of it completely.0
