Dr. Spencer Nadolsky and potatoes

This is a good read.

I was actually just telling someone yesterday how the angst against white potatoes is just ridiculous considering how satiating they can be depending on prep method.

I live in New Brunswick Canada about 20mins from McCain's...this area lives and dies by the potato...

Growing up we ate them with every meal...we did not have a weight issue at all.

Even now in the summer we eat them on the BBQ..roasted with onions and olive oil and spices, baked, boiled (esp new ones those are yummy)

I haven't read the article just speaking from a life time of experience...the potato is yummy, filling and so versatile there is a reason it's a staple for some areas.

This time of the year in the UK is great for the Jersey Royal potato, I have been eating huge quantities two or three times a week and I'm still losing great amounts of weight and have loads of energy for my 3 or 4 gym workouts, I do though cook them in my Actifryer with a couple of sprays of Frylight along with onion and lean bacon so I'm staying within my calorie goals. I have avoided mashed potatoes with loads of butter that would have been a big staple for me in the past. I'm not saying you should avoid mashed spuds with butter but I have.

At work so will have to read article later. However, I have to agree with others in that I've never understood the "potatoes are evil" thing. Seriously, what is so "bad" about them?

    Want all of this.

Good article. I've always been pro-potato. How can you eat steak with no potato on the side?

At one stage, I too was scared of the poor white potato. So glad to be over my fear

I wonder if the satiety rating of the fancy "low carb" potatoes are same/similar? I've been eating them a fair bit as I like to eat double the volume for same cals.
