I did week 5 day 3 today. I managed to run the full two miles but was about 1:40 short of 20 minutes. The app I use says to jog for two miles OR 20 minutes. So my question is that since I completed the two miles, should I advance to the next step or should I do it again until I can go the full 20 minutes?

I guess it would depend what your priorities are - whether you have a set distance in mind, or whether you want to increase running time, even if you're not running as fast.
Did you stop because you ran the 2 miles, or because you were tired? If you were tired, I would suggest slowing down and running the whole time period.
I personally would repeat it to try and get the full 20 minutes, but my program is getting you to run 30 minutes straight rather than to a set distance.0 -
Agreed. Are you distance training or time training? What do you usually do? What is the goal of the program you are using?
If you are distance running, then you've done it! Well done!0 -

^^ I agree with this, my app gives a time also. I feel quite accomplished when I achieve what the app wants me to do at that point in the training. Slowing down that tiniest bit can make a huge difference. The speed will come later with more practice. But as the last poster mentioned, if you are for distance only, Congrats!0
