Hello,

I started loosing weight in march, i was 205lb and now am 159lb. I lost the weight through eating 1200 calories and exercising.
I want to be 130lb and i am getting married at the end of next month and want to lose as much of that weight as possible.
I hit a weight loss wall last month and dont seem to be losing weight anymore with the current diet

I started the atkins induction 2 days ago and am still eating 1200 calories and am eating between 15-20g of net carbs a day, 93g of fat and 75g of protien. (5%25%70%)

I am wondering if i will lose the expected amount of weight that you do on atkins or if it will make no difference as im still eating 1200calories?

Thanks for reading :) x

you should see an initial weight loss from reduced water and glycogen storage at least, if you were previously eating high carb. What happens next depends on your insulin sensitivity etc.

Don't eat up to a number of you're feeling satisfied with less food on Atkins - that's part of the benefit of the low carb approach.

I am brand new to this diet and am wondering if you all still work out, too, with it? I cannot see how I will be able to as I saw my calories decrease below 1,000 with just cleaning my house. This is day one and I like what it did to my macro chart, but I am wondering how people are doing it?
  • Hi, I started last week and even tho was told not to exercise, I just tried to take it easy the first three days and then increase intensity. It's been fine so far and almost doing as much as before, as I didn't really notice any difference with my energy levels.

I have lost weight both on low calorie and Atkins. Now i'm back to Atkins for now. I find I steadily loose weight on Atkins at the rate of 1/2 a lb or more daily. When I was heavier I lost faster with Atkins. It wasn't unheard of for me to drop nothing for a few days than BAM! 4-5 lbs gone one morning. I do exercise, but I find my tolerance for it is lower than when I was low cal. Last night I walked 4 miles around town at 3.8mph, which is a good pace, but usually I could have done some resistance training on top of that.
If you do the low carb I'll give you some pointers that helped me. I aim for 12-13 net carbs from veggies just as the diet states, keep my cheese and cream at or under the recommended 3 servings, usually under for me. Usually though I get my fats from healthy sources, grape seed oil veganaise, olives, avocado, coconut oil, flax seed. I eat a healthy fat with carbs or protein every time I have them. For me it seems to keep my weight loss steady. I've found trough trial and error that low carb products tend to slow and stall my weight loss such as Atkins bars, etc... I avoid all of those completely. My Son and my Mom though both seem to have no problem with them. I have no issues with having to limit my low cal sweeteners. Though you still have to count any carbs associated with those and limit it to 3 servings a day. Most granulated/powdered sweetener you need to count .4 carbs because of the bulking agent they add, where as liquid sweeteners you don't have any carbs. Some people have issues with sweeteners and they find they stall if they have more than a few a day, for me as long as they're liquid I can have all I want. I keep my protein between 100-120g because of my illness I find I feel great and maintain and build muscle better on higher protein. I am 5.5 and 3/4". Right now I weigh 115 which sounds low but i'm very small framed. I'm actually in the process of slowly upping my carbs to halt my weight loss and maintain or gain muscle. My point with that is Even though i'm small I'm still loosing usually over 1/2 a lb a day! So Atkins done right can really work. For me I feel healthier on it and as I up my carbs slowly I always get my exercise stamina back after the induction phase.
  • I have no problems cutting down on other carbs (rice, potatoes etc) but white bread is my weakness. What can I do about this?
