So happy you have joined the group. Today begins a new chapter and each day we should strive to make the next better. Please introduce yourself in the thread.
I will start. My name is Stacey, I will be 44 in September. I was always considered skinny, until 2008 when I gained weight after a total hysterectomy. My top weight that I will admit to is 159. I am only 5'2" and my normal weight was 110 so the extra weight on my bones really started affecting my lifestyle. I was in denial about the weight gain too - I would buy larger clothes and cut tags out of them, blamed the dry cleaner for "shrinking" my clothes, tried starvation diets, medical weight loss clinics, Ideal Protein, vegetarian diets.... those worked, but were temporary. In 2009 I hired a personal trainer. At the time I felt I needed to go balls to the wall to lose the weight. I did plyometric routines for 5 hours a day three times a week, one session at 5am and one session at 7pm. After 4 months I was bigger, still not toned like I thought I should be so I moved on to another trainer. The second trainer was $35 for a 30 minute session. She promised help with nutrition and assured me that I only needed to train with her 3 days a week for 30 minutes. What's not to love about that, right?? We trained together for 11 months. The final 3 months of training with her I started gaining weight back again. Her sessions were group weight training sessions and the group continued to grow so waiting for a machine I felt the lack of sweating and increased heart rate prohibited me from progressing. That is when I decided to save money and go back to my 2007 Turbo Jam DVD..... Yes, before Coaching was introduced I was on the Chalene bandwagon. I dropped the weight my first month and continue to maintain that same weight, but my shape continues to change with the programs that I use. I have completed from start to finish Turbo Jam, Slim in 6, Chalean Extreme, and Body Beast. I own just about every program they distribute but can honestly say that they don't all fit my personality.
I hope that with this next round of Body Beast and PiYo I can get even closer to my goal. I want to compete and earn my Pro Card by my 50th birthday.
