Dealing with Cravings?

Share your cravings and weakness and how you deal with any difficulty eating healthy. I am a chocoholic so anything with chocolate is my weakness (cookies, cake, chessecake, candybars, etc.) I am limiting my chocolate intake to two times a week and treat myself to a treat. I normally eat a little dark chocolate, but last week I had some black forest cheesecake. I am a firm believer in moderation because if I eliminate things I love, I crave it more and pig out.

Ah! Cravings are the worse.
Whenever I have a craving I always choose to drink a nice big bottle of water first. Sometimes I drink just plain water, or I will add dehydrated lemon or lime crystals, or zero calorie iced tea powder. If after drinking the water I am still hungry or still have the craving I will opt for a package of Thinsations, or Peppridge Farm cracker chips, or 2 rice cakes with half an avocado, cherry tomatoes, s+p, and some mustard!
I hope this help's you out!0 -
I struggle badly with cravings!
If I'm under control (ha!), I can usually get rid of sweet cravings by drinking some sugar free hot chocolate made from a homemade mix recipe I got from Weight Watchers years ago. I will usually drink a cup of that in the evening, when my cravings tend to be the worst, and it fills me up.0 -
For me, my problem are food "triggers". I'm too cheap most of the time, so I don't usually by candy or fast food. If it's out of sight, it's out of mind (I also stopped watching TV for a while because of all the food commercials. subliminal advertising is cray) BUT, almost everyday I go to work and there are some type of cravings-inducing trigger foods. Food just appears at my desk. I wasn't even thinking about eating a chik-fil-a chicken biscuit until my boss (who was being kind) randomly gave me one. It's like once I saw the biscuit, my brain went "ooooohhh, I must eat eat eattt!"
chocolate. cupcakes, cakes, sandwiches. drawers full of candy. muffins. This is literally from Mon-Thursday of this week alone (this week was kind of an anomaly). I have a huge problem with saying no and throwing food away. Even if I ate this stuff in moderate amounts, within this time frame, it would still be too much! So here's my solution:
I take the stuff I like. Wrap it in some foil. Write a date of when I want to eat it (sometime in the future. like maybe 3 weeks from that day). And freeze it. If by the time the date comes the food is still tasty once de-thawed, then good. But, if it tastes awful de-thawed, then I didn't really miss much anyway, right?
Sounds crazy. it is. but it works for me.0 -
woah that's actually really smart! You can't cry over spilt milk so I love that.0
