This thread starter is so true. Yesterday I gutted out 6 ugly miles. My goal was to run 6-8 and by the end I was happy to have gotten to 6. Negative splits miles 1-3 then positive splits 4-6. HR was high. Time was slow. Didn't feel good. After my run I went to the gym & got in some of the tedious stuff my trainer likes me to do (low back exercises, ankle band exercises, inner thigh & shoulder exercises with a resistance band). Later I jumped on my bike trainer for 10 minutes while I watched the Ironman World Competition online, just to start to get a feel for it. I got my trainer moved where I had decided to put it but don't like it there so think I will need to rearrange my living room completely. But probably not today.
Hope to take my bike outside today. Getting some cleaning done around the house now.

^Ain't that the truth!! I am really missing that aspect of running right now--the satisfaction after having used your mind to push farther than you think you can go. waaaaah! I wanna run!
Laura, I have heard of that product from some family who swear by it. I've learned ways around needing decongestant (I just read or use the iPad, looking down gets things flowing with gravity). My problem yesterday was that my sinuses were so swollen that they'd sealed shut and of course I was also congested and it was killing my ear. I asked DH to pick up a nasal spray that opens the inflammation of the sinuses, but I ended up taking a nap and as soon as I woke up, the swelling was gone and what followed was like a spiritual experience of nose blowing and ear popping!!lol!
Marla, it was so nice of you to offer yourself for advice to val re: female issues. You may get a message from me some day. I think I might be in early stages of pre-menopause.
I'm a tiny bit better today, but the coughing and nose blowing is like a fulltime job. yuck! I'm just glad that lil girl and DH are well over it already. I don't know why these things stay with me for so long, but better me than my kids. Overwhelming guilt though for not feeling like taking them out to play over the weekend (and DH has been working all weekend), so I will really try to get them out for a walk later. It'd do us all some good and give DH some peace when he gets home from the office.
Hope it's a great day for you all out there!0 -
Marla - I'll be sure to let you know what they decide. They may decide to leave my ovaries in so that I won't be on any hormone replacement. Also, my mom had to have a hysterectomy at an early age as well so she knows a lot about those symptoms as well.
Laura and sherry - I hope you both feel better! Being sick is always so difficult not just because your miserable, but because it disrupts pretty much everything you try and do! I laughed at your description of a religious experience with blowing your nose, sherry! That sounds about right! Laura, I hope the new allergy meds work getter for you so that you can finally kick this thing!
I didn't count my calories yesterday. But I had a blast at my daughter's birthday party, and I've been under my calorie count every other day this week so I'm not concerned. I also only had a small piece of cake and a small scoop of ice cream and didn't binge eat the rest of the cake that night. Now there are only two pieces left that I already promised to the kids so I'm home free!Accidentally overslept this morning, so no run for me.
. But I still have some weight lifting planned this evening so the day won't be a complete loss.
