Drastic times call for drastic measures

I have the band, into my 9th year. I lost well, had trouble swallowing, regained. I restarted a year ago and have lost just under 40lbs since. But I've been stuck at the same weight for 3 months despite exercise and eating right most of the time.

My nutritionist suggested I do Optifast. I can't afford that so I'm drinking 4 Boost Glucose Control shakes a day and having 1 "green" meal at night. I'm on day 3 and wow...this is not easy! Yesterday the headaches, lethargy and stomach blahs started. Today was better but still not myself.

Hoping it might kickstart my weight loss. She says she wants me to do this for 2 weeks until I come back to her. So we'll see if it does any good. Plus with the band I have trouble with food getting stuck a lot. I have to keep record of when it happens as backup for possible revision surgery. Tonight I've slimed for over an hour on a few small pieces of chicken.

Hoping this works!

Kind of concerns me that you're having headaches and low energy. You don't want to get anemic or short on other vitamins. Is your nutritionist an RD specializing in patients who have had WLS?

Yes she is. I am feeling better today, fortunately. I've lost 5lbs in 4 days. I have a sweet tooth and have already realized that I don't crave sugar at this point, I usually can't manage a day without a little something chocolate. Maybe this 2 week diet will help in that area longer term.

You could be having sugar and caffine withdrawls since chocolate has both. That would cause headaches and low energy. And that also might explain why you are starting to feel better today as you body adjusts. Good luck and keep us posted on how you're doing.
