Finished W2D1 this weekend. I am feeling much more confident this time around.

Precious--are you/were you pretty physically fit before you started this program? What other types of exercise do you do?

Lavenda--just be aware the more running can stress your muscles and joints if they are not ready for it and cause shin splints or other overwork injuries. If I felt that way at the end (I really wish I did, so I am a little jealous  ), I would try biking or rowing (or maybe swimming except I am truly horrible at swimming). Something lower impact but still good at helping to build endurance for later. Just my two cents.

Did Week 1 Day 1. I could have done it back to back at least twice after finishing, so I suppose I'm not such a "couch" starter. When they say couch, they must really mean people who have never even walked in their life... Didn't really feel good about the accomplishment since it was too easy. Hope that I don't lose motivation. :(

The first four weeks aren't all that demanding from a CV fitness perspective, but they do help your joints and muscles to adapt to the stresses of running. That reduces your risk of injuring yourself further down the line.

To give yourself a bit more challenge pick up your pace in the run intervals.

Woke up at 5:30 this morning to run. It was still dark and spooky... An old lady in white night gown slowly drifting to her mailbox almost gave me a heart attack. Squeaking swings were not encouraging either... Not sure if I want to repeat it. So it's dark before I go to work and it's dark after I come back. Hmmm, should I quit running or should I get fired?

Dealt with the dark yesterday too. Got home from work it was already dark out (5:15pm!) Geared up for my run. Attached a clip on light to my SPI Belt, and let it light the path in front of me. It bounce around a good bit, and then I decided to just hold it in my hand, that worked out pretty well, it's small and light so it wasn't much of an issue.
  • Did weeks 2 day 1 today! I was so scared to do it. I finished the first interval. it was difficult but manageable and I figured there would be no way I could finish the rest.. but I did! Finished my 1st mile in 14.44 which is faster than i have been able to do in a long time. I think my fastest ever was like 14 and that was on a treadmill. I wasn't going for speed.. I actually jog pretty slow (because of all your lovely recommendations) ANYWAY. Just really proud of myself.

Haha. Thanks. Best chuckle of the day. 8) I'm going to to have to figure out what to do about running too. Now that my runs are longer they are starting to cut into my work day.

@snbouchard81 - A few years ago I actually use to walk / run a lot. Just a few months ago I bike, at least 10 miles a day. So yeah, I'm not exactly a sofa potato.
@MeanderingMammal - I only have jog intervals, but I get what you're saying.

Run/ walk intervals. That's how the plan works to develop your capacity.

I used to use a fast finish approach, so my later run intervals were faster than the early ones.

  • Did w2d2 today! I didnt cut any of my intervals short! Which is a first. :)

Finished W2D2. I am committed to moving beyond week 2. Usually this is the one I repeat tons of time and then restart.

Just slow down and push through it. Remember if you can't hold a conversation, you are probably trying to run too fast.

    You can do this!

Thanks! It's the only one I had in running gear. Today I got a little more unrecognizable. Down to a mustache for #Movember

Hang in there. Go as slow as you need and keep moving on. You will be surprised at where you are at the end.

Finished Day 1 of the 10k ZenLabs app today. Four 10 min runs with 1 min walks in between. The last run was tough, but I did it :) I might have to move to the treadmill for the weekdays... Just cannot run in the dark... With warmup and cooldown did 5 miles even in 54 min :)

new to the C25K and haven't started yet...don't know if there's a way to sync the free app (I didn't pay for it) to MFP. Help!

Which app are you using? I used ZenLab (free app) and it's easily synced with mfp.

Finished W2D3. I couldn't believe how much easier it was then I thought it would be. I am pumped to move on to week 3.
  • Finished week 2 today! I can not believe it! I am so nervous to start week three but I am determined to give it a shot. It just seems like such a huge leap to go from 90 seconds to 3 minutes! I am barely making my 90 second intervals. Then again I never thought I could make it past a minute.

As you make those leaps in time, you might need to slow down. You can do this!
