Christmas / Holidays for Atheists

First, it is important to note that I live and work in an extremely conservative area.
Here is what happened: I got into this conversation with a co-worker about having Christmas off. I explained that I am atheist and I don't celebrate Christmas.
He got all upset and says that I should have to work those days and not get the holiday time off (as everyone else does). I responded that I would do that if I got the holidays to use other times, on days that I celebrate as a holiday. Unfortunately, our company does not give that option.
His response was of course, "No way, if you don't believe in Christmas, you just shouldn't get those holidays at all."
My response was that I don't feel like I should be paid less just because I'm not a christian.
It went on like this for a few minutes... Ugh, does anyone else just hate the entitled attitudes that some christians seem to have during this time of year?

He no doubt is one of the ones with the big, "JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON" signs in his yard. I like to further blow their mind with the fact that I celebrate Christmas, but my own version, "Santa Christmas" I like to call it. I grew up Jehovah's Witness and didn't get to have it, so now I make it my own.
But yes, I hate the narrow minded outlook that only those noble few that are celebrating Christ's birth should get to do it the "right way". I just stay out of conversations about it because I like to keep my blood pressure down

So I look at the day off this way: I'm pretty busy outside of work politically (we have a special election going on right now that is going to be held Dec. 30 - and it was "called"/scheduled Dec. 1; our party nominated our candidate Dec. 13). So last Sat. morning, I chaired our nominating convention, then went out hunting for the rest of the weekend with my brother. We are going out next weekend (last weekend of the season) hunting again. I'm spending nights volunteering for the election. I'm almost certain that the campaign will not be doing anything on Dec. 24 or Dec. 25 and I took Dec. 26 off because production is low and they don't need me (it was take vacation or take it off unpaid, but I didn't really have the option to be there). So on Dec. 26, I will probably be doing more political volunteering.
On Dec. 24 and 25, I have zero plans as of yet. As busy as I am otherwise, I could use that day to catch up on organizing/cleaning my apartment (yes I do the bare minimum because I don't have time and I don't care as much as I should). Or I could go hiking. Or I could see my parents (who celebrate Christmas technically, but don't go all out and stuff... they know I don't and won't push me into the religious stuff) and play a board game or something. I'm kinda thinking maybe Dec. 24 I'll do some cleaning/organizing and on Dec. 25, I'll go visit my parents.0
