    December has been a very disappointing month for me. My knee problem is more critical than I once thought. I'm looking at knee replacement surgery in 2015 and have spent much of December in physical therapy just getting my knee in better shape for surgery and recovery. I have been doing 15min of stationary bike 3-4x/wk and try to walk (with a cane) when I can. I quit logging my miles sometime earlier this month, so I have no idea how much I have "moved my @ss".

    But I'm still hanging in here and hope to by back to logging miles in 2015.

    Scarfe - Somehow I don't think 3 miles a day is a problem for you. Look forward to seeing you cross the goal line!

    Calliope610 - so sorry to hear about your knee. You're a winner in my book if you are doing the work you need to prepare for surgery and get yourself moving again. Best wishes for a smooth recovery and we look forward to seeing you back in 2015.

    Thanks, JT...I'm going for it!

    Ran a local 5k and got 5th place Women's! Woot! I pushed speed but by golly my stomach doesn't like me pushing pace. At all. LOL. I'm a much happier runner when I run at a "leisurely" pace! Ha!

    It's been a strange week for me. My DD and new SIL have been in Hawaii all week, and we're puppysitting which is great...sort of. I think I'm missing them!!

    Tues - 3.36 miles
    Wed - 4.82 miles
    Thurs - 4.76 miles
    Fri - 5.36 miles
    Sat - 4.72 miles

    Hoping to get to walk with DD tomorrow.

    I did get in 1.5 miles pulling the grandsons on the sled. I also have been getting my @ss kicked from the Cathe Friedrich Ripped with HiiT series!!! My legs are like rubber when done!

    Updating my miles December 20th thru today. Adding 8 miles. I haven't been very active...too much relaxing and enjoying my holiday/vacation. I definitely need to work on being more active when I'm not in my normal routine! Ugh! Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas!

    I did a hodgepodge of working out at the gym tonight. I'm still in pretty rough shape, unfortunately. All the time not working out has really done a horrific number on my lower back and it's killing me. It at least loosened up for a little while tonight during my workout but now that I'm back home, it's screaming again. :grimacing: I think it'll respond quickly to stretching, foam-rolling and strengthening exercises though. At least I sure hope so.

    1.6 miles elliptical, 1.1 treadmill walk, 5.5 stationary bike

    Sorry I'm so late updating. I did my last long training run for the marathon and it takes me a while to do 22 miles LOL. I've now got 33 bonus miles. :) That's probably my last run for 2014, but I may have some walking or running miles still to come.

    AlethaMary - we call it a challenge because we push ourselves to do the best we can. As long as you give it a try and finish strong, that's all that counts.

    Dave - I sure hope you recover quickly. Some pain killers until then?

    Rockann - relaxing and enjoying is important too. I know you'll be back moving your @ss next month like you always do.

    VHuber - grandsons on the sled sounds like a blast. I'm sure your legs are turning from rubber to steel the more you do.

    Cpanus - maybe the mother of the bride needs a honeymoon trip too. I mean you did a ton of work leading up to the big event. Now it's over, you need to decompress. I think you deserve a trip to Hawaii yourself!

    LuckySusan - Dave slipped in there and took care of noting you're a fitbit member on the spreadsheet.

    And last but not least, congratuations Scarfe on placing in the 5k!! I'm sorry your stomach was protesting your win. As a runner who has suffered through many stomach issues, I can tell you that by observing what works and what doesn't over several years I have finally been able to come up with a pre-race regimen that works (usually). Keep trying until you figure it out.

    Well, that's what should* happen anyway. If they don't, don't worry about them. People shouldn't make fun of anyone for making resolutions to lose weight and get more fit. Encourage them and just maybe they'll stick with it! :flowerforyou:

    I see obese people on the bike trail all the time and I can't help but think, "That takes commitment to get out there when you're that heavy. More power to them!" I would like to tell them that but I'm afraid one of them would take offense when it was meant as a compliment.

    Thanks JT! I do need to experiment with the food...when I run easy and/or long, I'm lucky to have an iron stomach, so this is new territory! Nicely done on your 22 AND those awesome bonus miles!

    7 leisurely miles today! By golly I think I'll make goal tomorrow perhaps!

    Very poor month: Total only 32.3 miles - Goal of 75
    but doing this is so important - thank you to all who do the upkeep of this challenge!
